Bro, you have REALLY forgotten about a lot from the books! lol Most of Ron's cool contributions got given to Hermaine in the movie. Also Dumbledore knew exactly what he was doing with the points at the end. His whole point was to illustrate that Nevilles' bravery might not be as glorious as Harry's, but it was far more difficult to stand up to his friends than someone who is clearly evil. He deliberately made it so NEVILLE wins the house cup and boosts his confidence.

I think the biggest "magic" of this series is not the story itself as much as it is its ability to truly transport you into an entirely diferent world. That's what draws us all in, and I'm glad it's drawing you in as well, it's gonna be a fun ride! I watched the first movie as a kid (around Harry's age in this movie, actually) and I didn't know the books at all (it wasn't the type of literature I was "allowed" to experience). It sucked me in so much that I didn't rest until I got my hands on all the books and read them, having read them always before the movie. The books are better, ofc, because they're more detailed and don't leave so many questions in the air. But the movies retain the spirit and the magic of this world, which makes them worthy adaptations for the most part, in my opinion.

Actually Harry, Ron and Hermione lost points for Gryffindor in their Quest to know about the Sorcerer's Stone and they lost 50points each then were sent to detention with Hagrid at the Forbidden Forest. And they were about to tell Dumbledore about the threat but he was in London. So technically Dumbledore awarding 50points for Ron, 50 for Hermione and 60 for Harry; Dumbledore was just returning the points they'd lost. With a little 10 points on top with Harry and Neville to win the House Cup.

You'll find that hermione indeed has balls throughout the series. She's insane. And yes Ron's mum is probably the greatest mum in all fiction. The fact that she makes Harry a sweater despite just meeting him once.

31:06 one of my favorite jokes from the books is that Harry is scared McGonagall is asking for a wooden paddle to spank him and Ron with.

Not really a joke.... It's very nice that you had such a lovely childhood that you can think something like that is a "joke" about a boy who's been abused his entire childhood....
