Michael u r saying too much homie. Please just let her watch. No hinting at characters or agendas. watching someone react to these films who has not read the books is part of what makes these reactions fun. I would suggest if your going to continue with these films either partner Kristen with someone else who has not seen the films, or by herself, or with someone not tingling with excitement because they know what comes up next. Its messin with the vibe.

In a behind the scenes interview Jason Issacs did for this movie, during the scene when Lucius says “Let’s hope Harry Potter is always here to save the day” and Harry says “Don’t worry, I will be” Jason was so impressed with Daniels acting he said and I quote “That’s not a kid, that’s a 13 year old actor”. And he was right. 20 years later and Daniel Radcliffe is still one of the best actors of our generation.

I couldn't believe the absolute upswing in Radcliffe's acting from the 1st to the 2nd film! Radcliffe's acting in Chamber of Secrets isn't just great for a child actor, it's actually great for an actor of ANY age group. He totally carried this film with his acting ability, imo.

I'm not sure if they've already filmed the others in the series yet. I know some reactors film a lot at once and then just release later. I hope the comments are seen before the next films. There are two things that you must know: 1. Rowling has been asked several times about certain parent's attitudes. She said that adults tend to underestimate children's ability to make the difference between a story and reality. She said that she never hear of a child who got into the occult because of a story about magic. And magic is really one of the things which are omnipresent in the world of children's tales, it has always been. 2. Part of being magical is that you sometimes just know things. Like the way Harry just knew that he has to stab the book. If I'm not mistaken the way the book puts it is that Harry suddenly knew what he had to do, it was like he always meant to do it. At another place the phrase used is: "the answer rose to his lips effortlessly". The movies make you believe that magic is all about powers, a wand and the right spell. But the books make it quite clear that the character, the intention and the mental focus of the witch or wizard matters a lot. In many ways magic is like physics. There are laws, rules, possibilities and impossibilities and everything has consequences. If you want to understand the deeper meanings behind this story, the moral essence, this is one of the very important aspects that you need to be aware of. Otherwise what you're left with is just the adventure and excitement part of it and that's not why this saga is so important.

While he maybe could avoid some reactions for what he knows it's coming (I get him, sometimes it's just so difficult to bite our tongues when rewatching a film)... those two bits are not really spoilers for one reason: they have no impact in the overall progress of the story; and while they introduce some magical bits of world building, they don't reveal any major plot point of what's coming and he has pretty much held back from giving just too much. There is room to improve, but not to the point of "don't say ever the name of any magical thing!" (that level of "not spoiling" is very difficult, if not unrealistic).

If you’re unsure, don’t say it! I’d rather you just say “oh I know or remember from the books” and THATS IT! Just watch and see if you’re right AFTER not before especially because there are so many movies to get through and you read the books so long ago it can be soo easy to say a spoiler for something that isn’t even happening in the current film. Don’t steal the magic of a big reveal and unfolding plot lines PLEASEEE! That’s the joy of these reactions. To be fair, they had no idea "Diagonally" sent him right in the middle of Knocturn Alley. Considering the general "optimistic" take on the wizarding world there is in the first two books, it makes sense they didn't care much (evil is brewing, but in general no wizard is watching their backs or looking for dangers around every corner): in that "all is well" spirit, it was safe to assume, wherever Potter would pop up, people would try more to help him, rather than kill him. And it's safe to assume Floo accidents happen quite often and they don't end in murder (Harry is not the first newbie or nervous person to use it and end in the wrong place) XD.

@DocuzanQuitomos seems like a lot of hoping to me. If I were responsible for Harry, I would have followed him. I think it was mostly just impossible for them to know where he ended up.. Just that he likely turned up in a nearby fireplace. If I believe correctly in the books he mispronounces and ends up getting out one or two fireplaces to soon or late. I don't think they could just replicate what he said and get out at the same place. They found him on the main street where they were probably checking all fireplaces around, they might've not got to knockturn alley yet? Though it is fair to say that they maybe should've split up and focus some of them on checking knockturn alley 😅

That wasn’t what he said in the books, it’s one of the changes that doesn’t make sense. He inhaled a ton of ash and choked on it, which makes sense it would’ve come out sounding closer to Knockturn Alley. There was no reason for this weird pronunciation in the movie 😂.

On the subject of Tom Marvolo Riddle's anagram... Hi, I'm Swedish :) and sometimes we like to be complicated. So, the English verb "Be" turns into "Är" in Swedish which is a complicated thing. While there are men's names with the letter Ä in it, they are few and very much Nordic names and nothing you would find anywhere near an old English family. Just, no. Especially considering it is almost impossible for a native English speaker to pronounce said letter properly. This makes the whole "I AM" = "JAG ÄR" thing a little difficult. So some smart individual (I don't know who) decided that Latin was the way to go for us Swedes and our funky language. The English "I AM" = Latin "EGO SUM". This led to Tom Marvolo Riddle being called Tom Gus Mervolo Dolder in Sweden. Which is also a little punny because the Swedish word "Dold" means "hidden, concealed, secret". Thus: "Tom Marvolo Riddle = I Am Lord Voldemort" became "Tom Gus Mervolo Dolder = Ego Sum Lord Voldemort" :)

And also if possible please don't give it a big gap between reacting to the rest of the potter series. I can already see Kristen forgetting a lot of the big things because of the gap. Keep it coming. 😄

I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?" Side note: I always have the thought of "Harry's lucky Fawkes clawed out the Basilisk's eyes, otherwise that rock trick in the tunnel wouldn't have worked at all", combined with "Don't you dare sneeze, Harry"

I wasn’t aware that some of the scenes are different in the US version of Harry Potter than the UK version. In the UK version, when Lucius Malfoy realises that Harry put his sock into the diary to free Dobby, he starts to say the killing curse (avada kedavra) and Dobby stops him from killing harry. There’s also scenes in the US version that aren’t in the UK version.

They didn't sit right with me. It didn't feel like a joke and if she was tired of the HP related questions she would just say that, she's very blunt as you know 😂 I don't understand why adults can't enjoy "kids films/books". A lot of adults enjoy Disney animated films that are aimed at kids as well (myself included), but I don't see a problem with that either. Let people enjoy what they enjoy!

Myriam Margolyes is hilarious. You should watch a compilation of her appearances on the Graham Norton show. Even if I disagree with what she said about Harry Potter (though I think she was probably talking about those people that make Harry Potter or the Wizarding world their entire personality?? Like some people do with Star Wars, or their favourite Football club, or their favourite singer. There's "being a fan of something", and then there's an unhealthy "addiction"; even if I can rewatch the HP movies every few years, and I'll watch the show when it comes out on HBO, I also have other hobbies), she's iconic and soooo funny.

Miriam Margolyes is an extremely accomplished actor, with an extensive resume. She's politically active, supports various charities, is bawdy, opinionated, and highly entertaining. The thing is, she can be quite brusk. I wouldn't take her comments about HP fans too personally. Btw, there is a documentary series on the Only Human youtube channel that follows Miriam around, about getting older, dying, etc. I think it's the most polite I've ever seen her. Overall, I enjoy her lack of self-censorship.

Our Children were 10 and 12 while the wife and I were 41 when the first movie came out. My wife had read the books to our children, they were home schooled and Mom took them to the Library once a week, so they got exposed to Harry Potter when they were about 7 and 9. They Loved Harry Potter and wanted us to take them the 120 miles to a movie theater (we lived in a very remote area) to watch the movies, and I fell in Love with Harry Potter. On a flip side I had read the Lord of the Rings back in the 80's, so when Fellowship of the Ring came out, I took them to see it and they fell in love with may favorite series.

@ Oh, only like… ALL THE TIME. When he brings Harry to Gringots for the first time, he badmouths goblins. When Hermione starts S.P.E.W. he is the one who tells her that house elves want to be enslaved. And he actually thinks less of muggles because they are non-magical. He doesn‘t use muggle as a description, but as an insult. Among his classics are „They like it that way“ or „Best to leave them alone“ or „Nasty little creatures they are“. Of course I mean wizard-racist, not muggle-racist. Because everyone seems to be welcomed in the wizarding world, as long as they‘re human. And magical, of course, because fuck the squibbs, although they could attend most of the classes at Hogwarts anyway. Rowling made the wizarding community oppress all non-humans and non-magic-humans. Goblins are not allowed to have wands, centaurs have to live in set reservates, etc. And Hagrid is all there for it, besides facing constant discrimination for being a half-giant and for being bad at magic.

I'm 55 and still love Harry Potter. In Ironton Ohio every year around Nov there is a Wizard Fest based on the wizarding world of Harry Potter. They have charms classes, a sorting ceremony with a talking hat, and a Wizards ball. They have butter bear both alcoholic and non alcoholic that tastes like butterscotch. Someone is usually there with a owl and some other creatures from the state parks acting as a game keeper. They also have a petting zoo, a news paper printed in the style of Harry Potter newspapers. They have vendors of wands, some other magical items, and some memorabilia. The vendor area is kind of like a tent based Diagon alley. They have photo items like the cart half thru the wall at 9 3/4 and Newt Scamander's case on a table that you can crawl under and look like your coming out of his suite case.

I will say that Miriam Margolyes (Professor Sprout) is often quite 'salty' in interviews ... and it wouldn't surprise me if she was ragging on people being obsessed with Harry Potter just for shock value ... The whole film series has some of the cream of British film actors play the adult characters .... which is just a treat. I wish they'd kept the three leads more nuanced, and not given Hermione all the smart lines, and Ron all the funny lines, and made Harry being all 'the chosen one' ... There are definitely things Hermione knows in the films (that had been Ron's lines) that she shouldn't because she didn't grow up in a magical household ... like Ron knowing the meaning of mudblood in the book whereas Hermione had never heard it before ... It just doesn't make sense, but I'm just more a fan of the books and suggest at the end of this journey Kristen should definitely read them. I look forward to your reactions to the next movie ... 😊

What you discussed at the end makes total sense - the more iconic a movie is the harder it becomes for actors to break out of their most famous roles. It was the same with Romy Schneider who played Sissi in three Sissi-movies. Everybody just saw her as the young beautiful empress while she also played other roles, more serious and impressive ones.
