Just to be clear, this movie was what made Bay famous for the wrap-around slow-mo shot. The Rock wasn't until the next year, and at that time, the technique was still new and exciting, (and still holds up in both movies honestly.) I remember when the trailers for Bad Boys came out and seeing that shot, especially the first time, was incredible. People can bash on Bay all they want these days, but the truth is that he fundamentally changed the way films are made forever, for good or bad. Nearly every action film will now incorporate some type of Bayism into the movie. That is his real legacy.

Back in 2004 when my parents got divorced my brother and I would spend weekends at our dads. He basically lived in the middle of nowhere and this was before the internet was wide-spread, so we didn't have much to do there. All we had was an old CRT tv, a VHS player and 3 movies; Pirates of the Carribbean 1, the original Star Wars and Bad Boys 2. Star Wars was so worn out it barely played anymore, so we couldn't really watch that. Which means that on weekends where we couldn't go outside because of weather or whatever, all my brother and I did was sit inside and watch pirates 1 and Bad Boys 2 over and over and over for 2 days straight. For about 3 years, until my dad eventually got sattelite and we got to watch TV. I must've seen Bad Boys 2, without exaggeration, at least 100 times. It's probably the movie I have the most nostalgia for in the world. Even though it's probably been like 5 years since the last time I watched that movie, I bet I could still quote the entire thing, line for line, all the way from start to finish. Now, all this is really just a long-winded way for me to say that, even if you have seen it before, I would love to watch your reaction to Bad Boys 2.

Same with J. Cameron and his Avatar franchise. Very good directors. But too fixated on one thing. I liked how in Bad Boys 3 and 4. The directors kept the cinematography and shots of Bay's style.
@javix20132 ай бұрын
@@klass_1221 Directors should not remain within a franchise for several years because they burn out and lose their way. Bay with Transfomers should have made 2 films at most and then make other types of films, 4 were too many and the exhaustion of the saga was already noticeable and the lack of creativity in the script. Cameron is now in the same situation with Avatar and I have a feeling that it will be more of the same in the 2 films that will come from that saga.

The quote, adlibs, and facial expressions from all the characters are too good. Not to mention that I saw this back when it came out (I was 16 and a big fan of Will & Martin). Also, between the 2nd and 3rd movies, Gabrielle Union ‘s character (Sid) got a spin off called LA’s Finest, where she’s more of the Mike Lowry character and Jessica Alba is more of the Marcus Burnett in spite of Sid being Marcus’ little sister.

Jaby, the wheel thing is real (at least for older vehicles). Before they had quick ratio steering gearboxes, they had a LOT of slop in them. Where a newer car might only have to turn the wheel a quarter of a turn to make a right angle turn, an older vehicle might take a full turn to a turn & a half to do the same. So just going down a straight road, you had to constantly correct with the steering wheel to keep going straight. And since service vehicles were usually the last ones to be updated, that van probably had an older gearbox. It wasn't until the ealry/mid 90s that most passenger vehicles had them, so it makes sense. Also if the vehicle's suspension is out of alignment, you'll have to correct for it. Just FYI. The clerk who pointed the guns at Mike & Marcus was played by the same man who played Yinsen in the first Iron Man movie.

They DID actually blow up a rickety old plane hangar at a tiny private airport. - If you like Martin Lawrence's work in this movie, I would recommend BLUE STREAK, BLACK KNIGHT, as well as his 90s sitcom MARTIN. - Pretty sure this was Bay's first big movie. When you say classic Bay, this movie IS the mold. - If I'm not mistaken, they were originally thinking of casting Dana Carvey (Garth from WAYNE'S WORLD) and Jon Lovitz as the lead cops. Kind of like what happened with BEVERLY HILLS COP where the original star/s moved on and it just worked out great.

Burnette "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can be used against you in a court of law" Lowery "Yo what the 4*** you doin? Burnette "Gettin' out the way" wicked scene. On a side note, not sure if anyone else who saw this movie back in the day how weird of a connection this was... Tupac and Jada before he became famous did a amateur music vid to Smith's Parents Just Don't Understand seen in Tupac Resurrections bio and Me Against The World was featured in Bad Boys along with Will marrying Jada and as well having a close relationship with Tupac before he passed. I don't know, I just found it crazy.

The late Don Simpson & Jerry Bruckheimer's 3rd franchise and Michael Bay's directorial film debut following music videos/commercials. Originally written for Dana Carvey & Jon Lovitz of Saturday Night Live (crazy). The movie itself is named after the song of the same name from the reggae group, Inner Circle. Became a single from 1987 and the theme of the COPS tv series (1989-2019). Since the mid-1980s, Martin Lawrence did comedy, Will Smith did rap since and both had hit tv series in the 1990s. Each was a star in their own right. Lawrence was the bigger film star and got the call for starring in Bad Boys. He was asked if there was anyone he knew who could share the screen/top billing with him and he chose Will. The film's success would be enormous, also raising Will's career in becoming a major box office draw and movie star. Spring 1995. Martin & Will as polar opposites with Comic timing, catchy lines, awesome action, very good camerawork. Loved Joe Pantoliano as Capt. Howard, always stressed or mad with Mike & Marcus. The female lead, Tea Leoni (Madam Secretary) was so hot and funny, legs for days. Bad Boys 2 (2003) was very good, Part 3 aka Bad Boys For Life (2020) was a real long time coming and worth it. The recent "Bad Boys:Ride or Die" is fantastic. Altogether over $1 Billion worldwide. One of the best Buddy Cop series ever.
