As a 40 year old black man that loves movies in general. It really warms my heart to see non black people reacting to black movies. I grew up in an era where it didn't feel like non black folks watched black movies or movies with majority black cast. Especially outside of comic book stuff. Its so many gems that haven't been reacted to on the bigger reaction channels. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone because thats not my intention, just my experience.

Harper is soooooo unaware of himself, which makes it impossible for him to recognize how well his friends actually know him. He thought they would read it like the public as opposed to picking up on all the clues that those who are close to him recognize instantly. That being said, had things played out the way Harper wanted, I think it would've been worse. Lance would've still picked up on the cues, been pissed, and only had Mia to address or resent.

That is Terrance Howard actually playing the guitar, who I briefly met the same year the movie released, just walking down the street in Philly. And I’m actually related to both Morris Chestnut and Taye Diggs. Anyway, great review! I appreciate pausing as you two are talking as to not kill any lines in the film. I wish more channels did that! I am so glad you guys are watching these movies. Sadly, Black cinema is treated as a second-class citizen in Hollywood. Seemingly considered movies that only black people would watch, but we have great stories, some real ones with heart, comedy, and hope, sometimes they have a moral center and some real wisdom. I say that to say, the fact, that you guys are so open to watching and you're recognizing that you really missed out on good storytelling - gives me hope that the next time a "Black" movie comes to the theatre you will not feel intimidated about going to support it. Sanaa Lathan is in "Love and Basketball" and "Something New". Fun Fact: The slap from Nia Long (50:14) was so real, Taye Diggs vowed never to work with her again. That reaction from him was real. Plus, the stripper is Brenda from "Scary Movie". Underrated actress. Second reaction video from you guys am watching and it's making the movies enjoyable just seeing fresh reactions/perspectives i.e the poker game scene. Was in high school when this movie came out and seeing it now, that was very smart of the director. Will keep watching . Thanks for this trip down memory lane Another One: Ah, snap! you just referenced the poker scene again; 1:10:25 - that was a good one. It also gave us a sneak preview on his character: the sensitivity, short temper, because all along he was portrayed as a standup football player, husband type guy. I miss these type black movies. now the characters, scripts and settings are unrelatable and inauthentic... Bring Back The 90's/early 2000's Third Edit: (as I go along)The deadlocked guy from "The Matrix", is on "From", the series I hate making things about race, but a lot of black artists/directors don't get the recognition they deserve. This podcast is doing so much towards giving them the exposure and flowers. Salute! Have you seen "The Maid"? That's another great performance all 'round. When characters are well written you forget about ethnicities etc... That's what I miss.

Oh my god. let's go!!!!! this is one of my favorite movies. And to answer eternal question that this movie poses: all three of them was wrong Lance was wrong for cheating on Mia, Mia was wrong for sleeping with Harper and lying, and Harper was wrong for sleeping with Mia and then having the balls to write a book about it. Sidenote: Morris Chestnut was the definition of FINE AF in this movie.
@AshLee924902 ай бұрын
Yes, on everything, including the Morris Chestnut being fine asf in this movie 🤌🏾😄...

I forgot how much I absolutely love this movie. It was one of a string of classic black films from this era! OOOH it was a delicious time!! Mannnnn! You might even say it was The Second Golden Age of Black Cinema! 🤩
@TheCrystella262 ай бұрын
Yes, the 80's and 90's had a huge string on Black Cinema, even the early 2000's. But I really love the cinema that came out in the 90's, it displayed the culture at the time in such a way, that made it so relatable and refreshing to see displayed on screen.
