My dad left when I was five. I finally got ahold of him when I was 25 and found out he only lived a hour away. I went and seen him and got all the same BS excuses. We talked for a hour and I give him my number and listened to all his promises of what he was gonna do and wanted to be in my life. After I left I never heard from him again. Some guys are just pure trash. Luckily I had a super mom like this woman is.

Thank God there are strong, brave women to raise these strong, brave men to make them better than the fathers, who didn’t care enough to reach out and show love and concern to their own children. My first instinct was to say "no f'ing way, they let him move in??" when I heard the update too, but then tried to look it at from the son's point of view. His father obviously has some kind of addiction issue, and has never been in his life. The mom clearly raised her son to have a huge heart and an incredible amount of strength, perhaps he wanted to give him one chance to sort his life out and be connected to his son and granddaughter, so he wouldn't die on the streets, and leave the son with even more unanswered questions and regrets. I'd be super wary of the freeloading loser, of course, but the son didn't even know the full story until he was 20. He probably spent his whole childhood yearning for contact with his dad, really wanted to connect with him, and I'm not going to judge the son for being generous enough to open his home and give his father one chance, if he laid firm boundaries. He doesn't owe his father a damn thing. But it's his choice to give him a chance, and perhaps being a new father himself influenced him too. It's a momentous time when you think about your own parents and raising a lot.

My mom worked 3 jobs and supported us. She never went out nor had any relationships. She just worked to give us the world. When my brother n i looked for him and found him. He played the victim card, n threw us with " I have a bad heart" We have no contact with our dad. He did us a favor by leaving. My mom is the heart of our family. She gained more n he gained nothing.

Cheryl is totally believable and credible as well as being consistent with her story - never once swaying from the truth of it. And she's perhaps one of the most unselfish mothers I've seen on this show! she put her son's needs first ahead of her own. Steven failed more than just a lie detector test; he failed as a father. Hopefully the update sheds more positive light and rebuilds a relationship with his son that he never had. Friends come and go, but family is / should be forever.

When I use to ask him why he doesn't come see me he said because he had nothing to offer and yet I told him I don't need anything but him and he didn't really make a change. We began to get very close when I turned 30 he would come over watch our favorite sports and he became my best friend and then nightmare struck 5 years later he made the decision to take his own life and when I saw him laying there I couldn't understand how he could just leave me again 💔 I still mourn the death of my father I miss him more than anything 😔 and I wish I could turn back time and stop him but this is like a curse in my family all of my aunts and uncles and 1 of my sisters all died the same way they all took their lives and that is 4 uncles 3 aunts and 1 sister. i really didn’t like how he reconnected with his father, shaking a baby can nearly kill them or cause severe brain damage. He’s a very lucky person. but even with all that knowing what he did to his mother how can he reconnect with a creep like that

Listening to this reminds me of my ex-husband. Not the R*pe, but the excuses not to see our girls. It was always a reason why he couldn't see them. Roles were reversed for us as I was an Army officer (I am now retired from the military) but he used every excuse in the world for even a phone call. Not even on their birthdays...I literally had to call or text him to tell them happy birthday when they were 13 and 10 I decided I am not doing this anymore. If you can remember every year the steelers went to the superbowl surely you can remember your ONLY 2 childrens birthdays!! Well guess what?? He still "didn't remember" and didn't call them. Oh but he could remember to call them on HIS birthday so they could tell HIM happy birthday.🙄They got hip to that QUICK though and stopped answering THAT call!🤭

@@j0ellyfish What a weird question. They have these amazing devices now, for men who don't want kids! I think they're calling them C O N D O M Z. Or abstinence... or only sleeping with a partner you can trust who is on birth control and isn't nuts. Not every deadbeat dad was babytrapped ya know. A lot of men, and I mean A LOT, do everything they can to spread their seed far and wide, and yet dodge and dive the consequences.

@@j0ellyfish They also have other birth control options for women now, too! You'd be amazed. That wasn't the topic though. You asked whether the deadbeat DAD had wanted kids, so HIS options for birth control would be the point. Keep up, dearie. Or do you not know about the birds and the bees yet? Aaaww

When Steve said to the whimp Steve, i know it's been like a 3 mile run... my immediate thought was, no more like a 24 year run! This woman is smart to have seen the writing on the wall and kept him drunk until she was safe and then to immediately go to divorce this super evil dangerous man. Who knows what this guy would have done to her and the baby!! He would have abused them both and maybe worse. She has found a good husband now and Danny has a kind caring step father. Count your blessings and make 5his l9ser pay every penny of back child support.

My dad left when I was in diapers, he left cause my mom wouldn’t let him build a race car or buy parts. I saw him at Christmas almost every year but it was made clear his new kids got the better gifts and all his time while we were there. He passed away unable to speak and I stayed with him while his wife went to play bingo. It’s a shame the people who wanted him around got the left overs and the people he was around wanted to play bingo while he died.

I couldn't have contact with my family for 20 years because my parents were sexually, physically, and verbally abusive and racist towards my wife. Then they would vandalize my property. I got back in touch with them 20 years later and they have gotten worse. It was a letdown. It hurts to have a family full of sexual deviants. They never apologized and stopped speaking to me again because they wanted me now to take care of them. So they were willing after all of these years to speak to me because they needed something from me. I calmly told them what I thought and now they banned me from my father's funeral. My family hates me, and they helped the person who SA me and they knew about this for 25 years. They want me to apologize to them. I did and they repeated history. Since I spoke up they have admonished me from the family. They said they didn't need to apologize because they didn't do anything wrong. That hurts too. I haven't heard from them in 3 years and probably will never hear from them again unless they need something.
