Ive fished for many species salt and fresh. Striper is one species that you can’t just drag on a jetty and walk around with if you want the fish to survive. It isn’t a largemouth, you should never hold a striper out of the water for more than it takes someone to quickly snap a photo.

I think we've come a long way in how we release fish and sometimes we're too tough on each other because we all make mistakes in the moment, but honestly, this was pretty much everything you could do wrong if you wanted the fish to live.

as others have said: good catching /bad releasing. everyone knows the striper population is in trouble. the point of catch and release is to release and LIVE. do it quickly, don't manhandle it, try to keep the fish in the water. we know what a bass looks like you don't need to stick it in the camera. fishing a jetty/rocks is extra tricky, you need a plan on how to handle the release before you hook anything. you landed some beautiful fish but maybe focus a bit more on the 'Release' part of your logo.

Nice fish paulie, not 50 but still a beauty, I’ve been fishing that inlet for almost 40 years, and have been blessed to have had many amazing nights you just have to put in the time and it will pay off! Back in the late 90s i was down there one evening in late October it was a beautiful night the World Series was being played so there wasn’t a lot of other guys down there, it was a night we all dream of the 2 of us had over a dozen fish over 30lbs, the highlight for me was i hooked into one i knew was big, we were at the point of the inlet i fought the fish for about 20 minutes, keep in mind in those days we fished with 20lb monofilament i worked my way half way down the jetty until we were able to hoist him up, i knew he was the big didn’t know exactly how much, put him in the cooler on ice and the next morning went over to Paul at j.j was 57lbs. I’ve been chasing the magical 60 plus 🙂. Maybe someday!!!🤞

Jimmy, you don't know me but I had to leave this message for you, God our Creator does NOT approve of "Catch and Release" or in other words "Sport Fishing" In God's eyes fishing is for catching fish to eat, it is not intended for catching fish for pleasure so make sure you go fishing in the intent for food, I had to comply myself when I found this out. We are living in the last of the last days and Jesus is going to return very soon. No 50-pound fish or Bigger is worth losing your soul in Hell and the Lake of Fire, they are real places in the afterlife and it is forever, repent of your sins, and comply with what the Bible says so you will find yourself worthy of heaven!!!
@NoLongerBlind12

@@joegiunta2106 - where in Scripture does God forbid “catch and release“ fishing? I suggest it falls under the category of good stewardship of the resources He has provided for us; also, it would fall under “submission to governing authorities”, and obeying the Striped Bass regulations for that particular state. On a different, and more important note, nobody will be found “worthy of heaven”, apart from having saving faith in Jesus Christ. Only Christ’s perfect righteousness, imputed to us, can make us worthy. Apart from that, everyone will die in their sins, be found guilty before the Great White Throne of Judgment, and “die the second death”, being cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

We must be thinking of going fishing to catch fish to eat. I'm not playing Russian Roulet with my soul, if you want to take a chance with your eternal soul, you go right ahead!!!

Great fishing and I can feel your excitement and joy. I just want to admonish you take time to learn and improve on your releases, especially when they are that big. The head has to be completely in the water, move it forward gently (preferably by holding the tail end) to get flowing water into the mouth and over the gills. Never let it go till you can feel it wanting to free itself by a strong movement and observe it to ensure it’s able to swim freely away. All the best and tight lines 🙌🏾
