There were monsters in the Colorado river 30 years ago when I moved there from Calif, specifically to chase them. That was before the 30 year drought. In the mid 1990s Colorado river, mead/ mojave was cranking out 50s I caught many 40+ pounders for about 4 years around Davis dam In Laughlin and Katherine's Landing in Lake Mojave in Bullhead city. After the Huge striper Bite died down in the California lakes like Silverwood and Pyramid around 1993, i followed the bite to Arizona and nevada.. this was the beginning of the AC plug days. Now i moved back to Tennessee chasing the big boys. Best place for a 50- 60 pounder these days. Im working on it

Hey just a quick word might be helpful. I can't really tell, but looks like you're wearing waders in that kayak, with no life jacket. Not trying to be a safety Sally, but pulling in a 50 lb fish. If you tip and fall in that ice cold water, those waders are gonna fill up and pull you under. Are those boot foot or open bottom? Just don't wanna see you drown. Wear a inflatable vest at least..

Unreal he’d post this. Striper fishing is absolutely over, wow. Batista initiated the place’s downfall last year, and it cascaded from there. The bass a person would catch used to be a reflection of their perseverance, grit, and knowledge, but now it’s just a reflection of social networks and media presence. With everyone catching trophies, they aren’t trophies. They’ve been relegated to the level of catfish

I am not really sure what value this video returns to our Striped Bass fishery or fellow anglers. Getting folks outside and fired up to fish is fantastic, but what other ways can you inspire this with less impact and cost? You may think "well this area is no secret, it is fine!", however you are missing all the impacts of influenced pressure to those locations (heavier pressure on breeding age fish, tons of trash, congestion on the water body, novice folks doing dangerous stuff without cold water protection...etc etc). You are a great angler, but you need to be in touch with the balance of sharing your message through video entertainment vs a lasting positive impact on the fishing community. When we are gone, there will still be new fishing videos, there will be people catching bigger and more fish....how will you leave your legacy and how do you define impact? Tight lines.

@@zackystickzz44 its not about me, not about a spot, its about fisheries, species, and the joy we all find in fishing. My comment is emphasizing the importance of ensuring we are doing our part to guarantee future generations have the same opportunities that we have. I am not commenting with selfish intent or jealously lol and it truly is an epic video and a great display of fantastic angling, but at the end of the day it definitely comes at a cost. It may not be but a few views now, but thousands later, and maybe millions knowing this guys reputation, but there is 100% a negative cost to this which is difficult to reverse the dial on afterwards. To inspire others to chase their passions and push themselves is fantastic, but there is more than one medium and way to do this.
