honestly, I'm shocked. I've been struggling for YEARS on math. It was a repeating loop, and it felt like i could never figure it out.. no matter how hard i tried I've never even understood the basics of math; multiplying, dividing, etc... I just watched your 26-count video playlist for the "GED math test 2022" and understood instantly, in literally LESS than a day. I cannot BELIEVE how clear and simple you make your videos, I'm kinda shocked that this doesn't have at least a million views, severely underrated. if I'm being quite honest this should 100% be a paid course/class. you cover every little detail and more, it was engaging and you absolutely made sure it was easily remembered, like the less than or greater than signs, I've never figured out which sign meant what, but when you brought up the L and G it all made sense and I can't forget it. another time; when you showed the cars going up and down to represent if the slope was negative positive, 0, or undefined, it makes so much sense, bravo! I'm just writing this to so you can understand the gravity of what you do daily, and how much it helps people everywhere. you FINALLY motivated me to finish my GED and take that last step which I couldn't because of math anxiety and i can't thank you enough. PLEASE understand, you quite literally saved me and i appreciate it more than you could possibly comprehend. and no, i am not being dramatic. everything i said is 100% true. :) i am still a bit nervous, but I'm finally taking my test tomorrow, im confident ill do great thanks to your teachings and help!

Anika, thank you so much for the amazing feedback and sharing your experience! 🤩 My adult learners taught me how to do it efficiently and simply, so I learned from my students constantly!! I’m so thrilled that you found these helpful and that they gave you such confidence! Keep us posted how it goes tomorrow!! 🙏🏻

You're my favorite Math teacher, you video show up after I failed my math test for the 5th time. In my personal case, I grow up in a different country and I was taking my test in Spanish, finally I decided to do it in English and I missed by 2 points. Definitely the math anxiety is real, and the GED test loves to trick us. You explain everything perfectly and the hacks for the calculator are the best. I like to bring my calculator to my testing center, using the calculator in the computer waste a lot of time. I hope you can be able to check the GED ready test and see if I'm wrong about the test. Not all the formulas for Geometry are in the formula sheet. You explain everything perfectly to us the adults. I need only math to have my GED (finally) I tend to procrastinate a lot (because math is not my thing), but after watching your videos since Sep 3 I study everyday and take my notes. My new re-take test is in 3 weeks. I can wait to post in your channel and said "I passed" 😊, when I see all this replies it makes me so happy for the people who achieve the test. Here in Texas we have the opportunity to take 3 test, if we fail them we have to wait 60 days to re-take. Other states are different. I want to be a Spanish substitute teacher and Interpreter but I need my GED. Algebra, quadratics, geometry are my anxiety! I love, love everything your post, thank you for helping this adult community. I'm already talking about your channel at the local high school that I volunteer.😃.

@@GetSumMath Thank you! I love to guide students with the Spanish language and I love to help families who don't speak English.. Your techniques of teaching are really helping me. I spend hours watching you over and over until I get it, English is not my first language and they way you highlight every problem and translate (the meaning) is the key. Gracias!! 🙏

How do I find the height of a cone if I’m only given a diameter and the volume of the cone? Thank you! I’m learning so much from you.
@GetSumMath Жыл бұрын
Glad they've been helping! One way to do that problem is to use that answers they give you for plugging in as the height. Once you take half the diameter to get the radius, you can use option A for the height, and plug those both into: V = 1/3•π•r^2•h Then, see if if gives you the correct volume. If not, just keeping trying the other heights til it does. Hope that helps! 🙏🏻

For questions #3 why you need to divide by 2 at the end? Can you explain it in more details?
@GetSumMath Жыл бұрын
Great question! Since we're asked how many orange peels can fit around the outside (and each has an area of 2), we need to take the total surface area of 34 and find how many little peels of area 2 fit in that. Therefore, we have to divide the 34 by 2 to find how many peels we can get from the whole. I hope that helps!

@GetSumMath5 ай бұрын
@@DeimosA_ This is a trickier version, since we have to use Pythagorean Theorem to find the slant height (s). I doubt they would make you do this on an actual GED question though! We'll start with SA for a cone: SA = πrs + πr^2 Since the diameter is 4, dividing that by 2 gives us a radius of 2. But to get the slant, we use a^2 + b^2 = c^2 where a = radius (2) b = height (6) c = slant height 2^2 + 6^2 = c^2 4 + 36 = c^2 40 = c^2 √40 = c or 6.32 (slant height) Finally, plugging it all in: SA = π(2)(6.32) + π(2)^2 SA = 52.2 Like I said, I doubt they would give you this, since it's 2 problems in one. Definitely a hard problem - I wouldn't expect one like that!

@@GetSumMath That's good news. Thanks a lot. I'll look over this and keep it in mind. This is just the pretests anyways. I can get it wrong if I need to. Just trying to figure out what I need the most work on.

The Kaplan ged book’s formula sheet says - Rectangular/right prism. SA= ph+2B can you translate it please. The sheet I have looks to be the formula sheet that is on the GED test. Or should I memorize your formula? Fml
@GetSumMath11 ай бұрын
Hey there, here's a link to the formula sheet that they'll give you: ged.com/wp-content/uploads/math_formula_sheet.pdf They have SA formulas for both: Rectangular Prism: SA = 2lh + 2lw + 2wh Right Prism: SA = ph + 2B You don't need the Right Prism one really, because you can always break down the shape. The last example that I do on this video is a right prism (octagonal prism) where you can just add all the shapes. You'll get the same answer if you use: SA = ph + 2B p = perimeter (4•8) = 32 h = height = 5 B = area of base = 84 SA = 32•5 + 2•84 = 328 Hope that helps!
