Parisian Art historian here (again)! The place where nobody was there in Versailles is actually where they put the orange trees during winter. 🍊That's why it felt empty because it was. I was lucky enough to go when the trees were inside, and it felt like a jungle. Even taller than when it's empty. The statue you saw was placed here because they needed to protect it from the rain and other elements, but since it's from a weird part of history, and historians do not agree on who made it, they put it here. Sometimes they host huge balls inside the Orangeries for patrons. 👸 The garden you like was also used for balls and concerts during the monarchy. The rocks are placed this way so they would move together and produce a particular sound. The gardens of Versailles are truly meant to feel like a labyrinth with secrets at every door. It's the "art of surprised" very well-loved during the reign of Louis the XIV. Voilà! ♥Hoped you liked my fun facts! Bisous😘

Bring several really comfy walking shoes, tea tree oil and mole skin when traveling. I went to Europe for 2 and a half months and my shoes died (twice) and no one had an equivalent size (American 10). My feet were very blistered until I made it home. Yes, time off is good. Plan for a few easy days: a day at a park, swimming, reading at coffee shop, or a movie (You will probably have no idea what is going on even if you speak the language of the natives). Maybe there is a spa around to pamper yourself for the day. Sometimes, you have to remember to pace yourself to the life you have at home. Thank you for the realistic side of travel.

"sad but in Paris" is a perfectly valid emotion. I went there with a school group once...most of my emotions were "tangential teenage drama but in Paris" and "sad that none of these people are actually my friends but in Paris", with a little bit of "whose idea was it to serve grapefruit for dessert but in Paris". Sitting under the trees in the rain sounds lovely! That sounds like such a calm experience

Ten years ago, my (now ex-) husband and I spent a week in Paris for our 20th anniversary. I completely agree that Versailles is stunning, and was my favorite day as well. The thing that caught my eye there (in addition to all the expected stuff) was the clocks. Every room had a unique, very ornate clock. There’s was just something about them and I had to photograph them all. I took so many pictures of everything there that my phone charge died near the end if the tour. On a personal note, I want to thank you. After my ex took his new wife to France for their honeymoon (seriously oblivious sigh), I sort of tried to turn off how much I loved Paris and would like to go again, because it’s kind of tainted for me now. But watching your video about traveling alone, and listening to your descriptions of how amazing Paris is, has rekindled my desire to go back. I’m able to remember the positive things I loved without sad feelings coming through. P.S. I feel you regarding the painful feet!!! We didn’t get to the Louvre until the end of one of our last days. By that time my feet just couldn’t even. I ended up resting on every chair or bench I could find as we moved through while he explored the nearby areas. AND I loved Sainte-Chappelle too! Oh yeah one last thing. We were there the last week of March. We didn’t get much rain but it was cold and gray on several days. Sorry for the long comment!

I love these videos. I have a friend in Paris who I haven't visited in years (world event stuff ;) ), and these videos really make me want to go visit her again to see a few more places. I also love, love, love seeing your blue skirt in the video. Because of your video about making that skirt, I'm currently making the Coquelicot Skirt (I'm not as comfortable with my sewing skills to make my own patterns yet ;) ).

I travel kind of like you do! My husband sometimes gets sent some where for work and I get to tag along. I’ve been to Quito Ecuador, Taipei Taiwan and San Francisco this way. I’m from Sweden. So I also find myself exploring places alone but not lonely. And I am a person who likes being alone. I don’t have as much energy as you have so if I don’t have a certain goal in mind I sort of just wander out of the hotel one direction one day and another the next, walk as far as I have energy for, rest and walk back. I also revel in finding places where I can be alone while watching the sights. Though you seem way better at it than me. I might just follow your Paris tour. 👍😍

I love to travel alone but I am a social butterfly. When I was single for five years in my 30s, I drove my very basic stick shift car without cruise control for 250,000 miles. I love big cities so I drove to as many as I could reach from my home in the palm of Michigan‘s mitten. I went real estate shopping in Chicago I loved it there so much. Fortunately, I met my husband and yesterday was our 27th anniversary so it’s a good thing I didn’t move. He’s the best!

So much of this resonates. One other thing I've found about travelling alone is when you come back home you have no one to share it with. No one you know were there to share it, and friends etc soon get bored hearing about your wanderings. I hope I'll get to see more of France incl Paris some time.

Delightful, Beautiful, awe inspiring, and you are beautiful, Delightful and inspiring. Your perseverance thru your pain and self care afterwards so you could continue your journey of experiences was also amazing. Your humor and delight in your experiences and how you express yourself and share with others makes your videos such a wonderful experience. Thank you, 💖😊 I have smiled more watching your videos than I have in a while. I would send you money for coffee or just to support but am unable to at this time. I just wanted to express my appreciation to you. I am so glad I discovered your channel.

Wow, the Versailles gardens look absolutely amazing!! I do love the earthy smell and chill you can smell in a vault (not quite the right word do describe the constructions next to the orangery, but can't think of sth better, I'm not a native speaker) as well! Also the winery with the art installations looked very cool!

That beautiful roof would look stunning as a big circle skirt, don't you think. Remember, you are basically "home" while hubby is working, what would you usually do at home when you are not working? In any case, you can talk to me if it helps. And I will enjoy the delicious desserts vicariously through you 😉. Hope you get to browse an old bookstore attached to a coffee shop where you will meet some interesting eccentric people that love your accent and won't stop talking to you. Enjoy.

Okay, I literally wandered through those halls for like twenty minutes waiting for a moment when there would be absolutely no one there (there was always like one random person poking their head in the door) and it never happened so I got to shy and didn't sing. Sigh.... HOWEVER - there was a bird flying around inside and singing and the way it echoed was so stunning!

Does it matter so much that you feel it outweighs a whole video about beautiful Paris? Was that really the most important thing to say? Do me a favor and consider your options next time. Try focusing on more positive things and you’ll find a more positive world around you. Farewell stranger 😊

I love these videos. For a professionnal reason I'm moving to Paris in the upcoming weeks (I'm from the south of France, Toulouse). And I was really scared and anxious concerning this move, because Paris never really sounded like a good city to live in for me... Because I'm also a big introvert, love nature and hate crowd. But watching your videos I'm realising I might really like it there. Thank you !! ♥
