Very clear visual directions! Can you share what your favorite fabrics are for stitching on? TFS!

Absolutely! My favorite is cotton twill, but I also use gabardine, linen, and quilting cotton depending on the project!

What are the best embroidery needles? I seem to have misplaced all mine that my nan got for me. I would like some different sizes if that is possible. What brands do you tend to look out for? I'm in the UK.
@gettheetothestitchery3 жыл бұрын
I'm not super picky about brand, but I do highly prefer sharps over all other types of needle (assuming you are stitching with regular embroidery floss and not a larger type like cotton Perle, wool, or yarn). I generally use needles ranging from size 6-12, just depending on how many strands of floss I'm stitching with.

@@gettheetothestitchery I have some size 10 sharps. Do I need to go up or down a size for a bigger needle eye?

@@gettheetothestitchery also do you wear a thimble for embroidery or is that just a garment sewist thing?
@gettheetothestitchery3 жыл бұрын
Smaller numbers generally mean bigger needles, so you would want to move towards the 6 area to have a bigger eye.You could also try using embroidery needles, which are similar to sharps but have a longer eye. I don't personally use a thimble when stitching, because it seems bulky, and it's just not habit, but I know many people do. I actually end up having the most pressure on my right hand middle finger, so that's where I would wear a thimble if I were going to do so.

Lovely and so easy to follow. Do you usually seperate the threads to use only 2 strands?
@gettheetothestitchery3 жыл бұрын
I most commonly separate the threads into 3 strands actually, but 2 strands is even better for finer or more detailed work!
