Traditionally yeah, but sometimes you have to adjust mid-game based on your teammates' demonstrated strengths because you can't choose your teammates in x-rank. That guy was playing hot and clearly needed to be allowed to post up and get kills instead of running the rainmaker. And whoever of the mid- and front-line who wasn't getting many kills needed to recognize that they weren't getting the kills and pick up the rainmaker instead. If there were a hud that displayed k/d/a midgame that would be very helpful. At the same time, though, it is important to be ambidextrous sometimes and both get kills and push the objective when you need to, instead of rigidly sticking to one or the other. That's how to thrive in x-rank.

@@barbarictearemedy i get your point, but also even if youre getting picks with the eliter its not as strong to help push the rainmaker with it since youre not gonna be in the frontlines to protect them, if your backliner is dead or theres a chance to hard push then by all means grab it, but i feel like this eliter was avoiding objective because theyre kill hungry, theres a lot of those, it is important to do both regardless of weapon, but backliners should always prioritize objective more than the others

I've been getting way better by watching how you play, but it's so much more than mechanical skill. It's your positioning, patience and decision making that separates you from the rest. I struggle with focusing on more than one thing at a time, but slowing myself down really helps! Congrats on the 3k DUDE you make it look easy.

I'm hoping one day I can get that high in ranked. I started Splatoon day 1 but didn't start competive until the end of Splatoon 2. I've been watching several KZbinrs and watching how they play to reinforce my gameplay. I probably won't make it this high in Splatoon 3's lifetime but hopefully in the 4th I'll make it.
