STC: "I need to stop teching everything and just hope someone does a double jump above me" Red Falco: "Say no more."

Yo squid I have a tip that could be a massive time saver if you did this speed run again. You can use the misfoot state(intentionally slide off plat with shield open facing center) to put yourself into a knockdown state without your opponent. It requires 26 frames of misfoot to be put into tumble/knockdown, so fast fallers can only do it from top plat

Okay so I'm obsessed with this clip. Here's my best guess of what's happening. STC gets hit by Marth's Neutral B. He proceeds to do some crazy SDI to get underneath the stage. If you look at the last few frames before he grabs the ledge, his SDI has Falcon practically clipping up into the stage itself. The frame before falcon grabs ledge, there are three strange particle effects happening simultaneously: there's dust appearing near Falcon's foot, which I *thought* only appeared when characters touched the ground; there's a tech particle appearing right on the ledge; and there's what's either a missed floor tech or the first frame of falcon's up-b happening *at* where falcon was first hit--which, frankly in either case that is not where that animation is meant to be. I don't *think* this is a Hax$ pixel situation, because those tend to happen about ten frames into Falcon's Up-B animation, and he grabs ledge the first frame afterwards. My best guess, so far, is that there's some weird ECB fuckery that means he somehow gets a clipped slide-off and a wall-tech on the same frame that he starts an Up-B; or, he gets a wall-tech into an immediate up-b the same frame and that somehow sweetspots? Honestly I am very lost, and I've sunk about an hour into testing stuff with little to show for it, so I really hope somebody w/ more experience w/ the game can explain what the hell happened.

@@Diana-Derivativeit's definitely a weird ceiling tech wall ride caused by sdi
@thetobecomedian7 ай бұрын
@@Diana-Derivative It looks like he SDIs under the stage. Then, when freeze frames are over, he gets sent up and left, but techs on the ceiling on the first frame of that. Then, on the next frame, he grabs ledge. It seems what happened here is that he ceiling teched right on the hax$ pixel, so he was able to instantly grab ledge

@6:30 For those wondering, Captain Falcon can sweet spot battlefield if he up-bs right at the corner (very precise). So ceiling tech into sweet spot up-b. Credit to Magus video from 2008
@asup7597 ай бұрын
he doesn't go into upb animation though
@Diana-Derivative7 ай бұрын
@@asup759 He does for exactly one frame, I think. But the sweet-spot that is being referred to usually only happens like 10 or 15 frames into the move, so I'm still stumped.

Very cool challenge. Another variation could be than in a game, all kills have to be of some type (only aerials, only special moves, only throws) and you have to win the game. The all throws seems challenging and the all get up attacks seems cursed

6:29 was this a ceiling tech into ledgegrab? like a cursed bonkdash?
@m2dauffin27 ай бұрын
No I don’t actually think he got a tech there, I’d have to see his inputs but it looks like he hit the bottom of the stage, momentum carried him up onto the stage the next frame he hit the ground enabling him to edge cancel all his hit stun and immediately grab ledge, but again idk I need frame by frame plus inputs

Woulda been better to only count the moves if the other player couldnt make it back to ledge, ledge stealing is pretty boring. Throws at 2-300% sending your opponent instantly to their doom woulda been amazing.
