@CoryPelizzari Жыл бұрын
Eric and Peter made those sounds long before the Silent Hill games came out. Back in the nineties the sounds were released on discs as single packages named Bizarre Guitar, Distorted Reality and many others that were used in films and games countless times. Alongside East/West they were among the first ever sample library publishers that paved the way for all the companies and devs you see today.

There's not a lot in the way of comprehensive ambient packages, but some I've found to be worth a buy are libraries like Wraith, Slow and Colourform from Frozenplain. One of my favourites for tonal ambience is The Blue Zone from Hideaway Studios, then for more abstract stuff there's Haunted Spaces from Soniccouture (but it eats CPU).

Hi, thanks for the video. Please tell me, maybe I'm doing something wrong ... The Spectrasonics website does not have this library in the Omnisphere 2 patch list. It is available in LEGACY LIBRARIES in Akai / Emu, Roland, and audio formats. Is it possible to get the library now?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
All of the original sounds and libraries are hidden in the core sounds folder, which you can get to if you make a new blank patch and click on sound "a" in the GUI, then click on the little box in the middle of that GUI. It'll take you to the core sounds folder, which contains all the original libraries. It's a bit convoluted to say the least.

@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to find a collection of sounds in one library that really gives the Silent Hill vibe. Usually you have to go digging into multiple libraries for ambient content and nods to Akira's work. I'd say go to Loot Audio and look up ambient libraries for Kontakt - but you'll likely need the full version of Kontakt 6 for a lot of these libraries. If you do happen to have the full version of Kontakt 6 you can download the library I made for getting a Silent Hill sound at my video "Getting a Silent Hill Sound With My Voice".

Akira's version is EQ'd and compressed, but he also likely threw in a low pad from the Atmosphere selection for bass because the original sample doesn't have a bass tone. Just try out different low pad sounds in the Atmosphere section.

i totally understand. im pretty sure you can still buy distorted reality on cd for i think 100, i imagine it may be a pain to integrate it seamlessly with our modern day programs but it can be done. i pretty much bought Omnisphere for these types of sounds (the actual sounds akira used and so on) and dont regret it. i will say tho is omnisphere is like 50 gb's or something and with my set up it runs a lil slow, and wouldnt be suprised if that is a reason that ableton takes so long for me to start. But omnisphere has sooo much/ soo many sounds, etc i think it is worth it, my only thing is like i said it runs a little slow for me, so its hard for me to actually scroll through and listen to all the "sounds" i have access too. (what i mean is that when i am playing something and go to the next thing it takes a few seconds to load, and when we are talking about such a massive library its a pain. maybe when i upgrade from my alienware laptop to at least a desktop things will change. and i agree with cory, i like knowing that i have the right to use the sounds that i use

Gotta be honest, this is pretty damning, Seems a lot of Yamaokas work is really other peoples
@SilverLPs4 жыл бұрын
Not damning at all. Watch it from another perspective, everything these other people created is also 100% based on work from other people. This is how our world evolved, how we as a species improved, how all of our societies make progress, this is essentially how life in general works. It doesn't matter that your work is based on the work of others, what does matter is what you achieve by putting together another peoples work with your own. That has nothing to do with stealing, not at all, thats is a lie, established to demonize a part of this worlds nature, to force profit, that wouldn't be reachable otherwise. Copyright exists because many times there is a lack of alternative methods to earn money from your intellectual or creative work. But copyright is only fighting symptoms not the cause. And it's got a lot of negative side effects.
