May I ask you a question that has nothing to do with this episode? It has to do with the whipped body butter base from scratch...
@MrsSoapAndClay2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I’ve never made a whipped body butter base from scratch, but I’ve done an episode on body butter in general, so if I can help, sure!

@@MrsSoapAndClay ok sorry...with any base made from scratch, does it need to be refrigerated or just placed in a climate controlled area? I am very new at this and I have a tremendous amount of respect for what you do....thank you for sharing your knowledge and recipes...

I don’t think there’s any real reason that it’s necessary, but it also won’t hurt it if you feel more comfortable doing so!
Happy Happy Birthday to you and your family. I hope it is the best birthday yet for everyone.

That's super cute and fun!🎂 I love hearing you talk about how you come up with recipes/blends. The torch, is called many things: hand torch, butane torch, culinary torch, soldering torch, etc. Hand torches are usually butane, and larger ones are usually propane. I also make silver jewelry 😉 (not as much, since 'Covid' prices, got me into soaping ❣)

Awesome blend, very smart! I just made a soap for my sister. She was born in the year of the "summer of love" and I created a fragrance just for her. It is patchouli, rose, with just a touch of orange and lemon. It smells amazing and I call it 1967. Oh it's also white with drop swirls in the rainbow colors. It sure was fun to experiment for a day. It broke up the restock the regular scents jazz that we all do! It was fun to watch this for those same reasons. And to see how others pick and chose a blend! This turned out really well. I'll have to write that scent blend down so I remember it. Just in case somebody says "Hey, do you make birthday cake soap!" I can say sure do, lol! Have a blessed evening! Jill PS: Happy Birthday Mrs. S & C!

Happies of Birthdays to you and your family's birthdays!! I'm going to try to keep all of my comments to 1 post this time lol. I have a customer that asked for vanilla patchouli scent for her birthday party soaps and of course white is the base color. Wellington has the fragrance oil with no vanilla, that was on the description. Of course I had to trust but verify with test bars and they did not completely discolor! I was shocked lol especially because the color of the fo was dark lol. Yayyyyy you piped!! I test scent blends on a cotton ball when I have the time to test. Otherwise I just go for it lol. I think it is called a blow torch? They look beautiful!!

I just love all your videos!! I have learned soo much. I’ve been here since day 1. There is a company that sells vanilla scent that does not discolor… I think it is AFI… Maybe check into that. I wish I could but I don’t think they sell small quantities

Would it be easier to use a vanilla stabilizer to control the discoloration?
@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Vanilla stabilizers don’t work consistently, and eventually the soap will discolor whether they’re used or not. For me, I’m not a fan of adding extra stuff that doesn’t provide a benefit to the soap so I avoid the stabilizers.

What about using Benzoin for the vanilla scent?
@MrsSoapAndClay2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I’ve never worked with benzoin in soap; the last time I looked into it there had been some new guidelines about usage dangers that made me all but forget about it. From what I remember, it can be used in small amounts in fragrances to stabilize a scent, but you can’t use it in high enough amounts for an actual vanilla scent to come through. This is a memory from at least a decade ago though, so I’m not sure!
