To reach the Saloum Delta in Senegal, I will have to find a boat to take me and my motorcycle across. From the small town of Djiffer, there are lots of boats (called "pirogue") and it's busy with people, animals, boats and all sort of goods. It takes a little time but eventually, I find a boatmen who is willing to bring me across (for a good price of course!)

So often I find myself struggling for words that fully expresses what we are seeing and this is no exception. As a solo woman on a motorcycle, being in the places and situations we see is incredible enough, but the cinematography and editing even during tense pressure situations like finding a boat and loading Alaska is second to none. If I had a daughter, I'd want her to be just like Noraly. Not a famous actor, star athlete, or musician. Noraly is so much more than that. An amazing role model, a shining light to the world. The boats may look a bit questionable compared to modern industrial standards, but they are capable vessels for the job just as those used for navigating around the Darién Gap. The boats probably go back centuries with these people and they know exactly what the boats can do. That makes it easier to trust it all and have faith in a good water crossing 😊

I'm Senegalese. From a human point of view, this video is very beautiful to me as well. The Djifer region is an area where several cultures mix together :serer, wolof, peulh. Actually, the young man who is helping Noraly is Serer. "Issa" is the Arabic name for Jesus. It's hilarious to hear jokes between ethnic groups. While the motorcycle is being unloaded, you can hear a Serer person saying mockingly to another person ( peulh ): "DO YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR KING FALL IN THE WATER?". It's an old joke among these cousin peoples where each one has fun pretending to be the king of the other.

Seeing first snake in this season, salt mining explanation, cute huts, and the hee-haw donkey comment was priceless! The tone of her voice and facial expressions reveal more to anyone paying attention. She drew quite a big audience at the boatload and launch. Locals will talk about that one for awhile. The first three guys that approached you were saying "Gaal" which is boat in Wolof. Senegal is thought to be called after "Sunu Gaal" meaning "Our Boat".

Another amazing trip across water in a small boat. So refreshing to watch the natural inter-action between you and the locals. Those men were so strong to lift Alaska and keep her dry. Life is not boring with Itchy Boots.

I was amazed how large the boats appear to be in a land that doesn't grow many huge trees. And the painting on them was so colorful and bright. The animals seemed to be in decent health as well. The logistics of what you do to get where you wish to, just astound me. Thanks for bringing us along!

Noraly Good morning from Florida. It's incredible the way you're able to communicate with everyone. To put your trust on people that are only more than eager to help a complete stranger. I would be worried that Alaska might tip over into the water. But you have been blessed through all your journey. Keep safe. 😊

Every video stuns me. Never boring. How do you manage that all? When you told Esa that Alaska was going on a boat 1.7 million people in the world were sure that Alaska was going on a boat. Just HE didn' know, now he knows. Alaska did not touch the salty water, good guys. GREAT VIDEO.

Noraly, you are an amazing and unusual human. Your thirst for adventure is nearly unlimited. In this episode you faced so much chaos and uncertainty about where to go, who to hire, how to get you motorcycle safely across the river, etc. Once you were across, I was not surprised you immediately sought a place to rest. I have been repeatedly surprised about how helpful people have been and how respectfully they have treated a woman and her motorcycle. There may yet be hope for the human race.

Ohhh, wow ... another water crossing and loading Noraly's faithful Alaska on a wobbly boat to get to the other side and we all hold our breath. Noraly makes it safely to the other side aided by an small contingent of volunteers to load and unload Alaska. Thank you Senegali helpers at the Delta for helping our Itchy Boots get to the other side, yet their peoples are so generous in spirit from the fellow that spoke English and helped her get her message to the boatmen to get her across. I love these videos where we get to view other parts of the world which are so foreign and most will never see if it weren't for Noraly's videos. Another great video ... GO ITCHY BOOTS, GO 🏍🏍🏍

Alaska's boating adventures always fascinate and amuse. So much confusion and debate about how to proceed. Nobody looks as if they have the faintest idea how to go about it. But, slowly, it comes together and the bike is loaded without mishap.😅

You are absolutely amazing. The way you communicate with the locals despite a language barrier never ceases to amaze me. The trust you put In people is beyond admirable. I’ll tell you, to see my entire life teetering on the edge of a boat like you’ve done many times would make me lose my hair and gnaw my fingernails off😂😂. You’re one of a kind. Safe travels.
