@@beachbelle_ hi! i hope you don’t mind me answering. as far as bands, it depends on your case so i can’t be too sure. for me, i didn’t start out with bands, but i wanna say i’ve been wearing them for about a year and a few months now. i’ll have them on for the rest of my braces journey, which is hopefully ending in a few months if all goes well. mine were mostly for cosmetic purposes too. i consider it worth it, because i really hated my teeth beforehand, and i’ve already gained so much confidence with them being straighter. the bands are really the worst part for me, the part that’s the most painful and claustrophobic. i have two heavy triangle bands on my canines. if my teeth weren’t super crooked, i’m not sure if i would’ve considered braces. now that i’m possibly almost done, i’m definitely glad i did it and i know i’m going to be much happier, so i think it just depends on how you feel with your teeth. don’t feel like you need them if you are confident with them :) sorry if this was too long

9 months down and I’m amazed at how quickly my teeth have moved sure after every tightening it sucks for the next two to three days it hurt but afterwards your back to being use to it. I haven’t broken a bracket yet but I am curious on how people break them off. If I am eating something and feel my teeth wiggle or shift I stop I think that’s the most unsettling thing is when your teeth are shifting and they are slightly loose.

I'm going into month 3, and literally everything I've learned about braces, I've learned after the fact, here. My ortho gave me zero insight into my treatment plan, what to expect, what she is trying to correct, how braces work. And I'm like, whyyyyyy? Having some information would have made the process so much easier, and frankly, less traumatic :(

I’m almost 5 months into braces and I got elastics (bilateral class 1 triangles) last week. The first day was horrible but by day 2, it was totally fine. I was scared it would be permanent pain, even though everyone says it’s temporary. Lol. Love your videos! I’m following every thing you say!

I have my braces for 2 and half years, had double jaw surgery last month and now my orthodontist is doing "the final touches". Hopefully it will take few more months and I get them off. It was hell of a journey and I have to admit, it took at least 2 months longer at some point because I didn't wear my rubber bands 24/7, as the orthodontist asked me.

I've had braces for like 3 years already 😭 I'm sick of them. First the clinic I started my treatment closed without notice, I lost 5 months finding a new orthodontist. Then I had severe depression so I stopped going for almost a year 😢 and now, this year I was finally going to get them off around this time according to my orthodontist, and corona happened and I had to move and can't travel to the city where the clinic is and I don't want to change doctors at this point. If I didn't stop going to my appointments I would have certainly finished my treatment at least one year ago 😭

I have a transpalatal/nance combo. I was in the midst of pulling my canines in place with my bands. I wear them 24/7 minus the 5 mins I take at night to do a thorough oral cleaning. I began to get immense pain with the instrument. Area around it was sore and my pain was 10+ and caused a fever. Ortho told me to take the bands off. Immediate relief of pain and woke up the next day with my fever broken. Im disappointed cuz I feel like this will prolong my journey but the pain was too much. Hoping we can find an alternative to the transpalatal/nance on sept 14.

Plaque can only be removed by your orthodontist. Don’t worry I have plaque too but only on the inside so it can’t be seen. Just get em off after your braces. For now just chillax.

I do everything in this video. I also get cleanings every 3 months and yearly X-rays. I listen to my hygienist and do everything she tells me to do as well as my orthodontist and his assistants. I’ve had mine on for 4.5 years!!! Looking like at least 5 or more years before I get them off. When I got my braces I was told it’d be only 2-2.5 years to finish my treatment. I’m getting kind of aggravated and thinking about getting an opinion from another orthodontist to make sure my treatment is being done correct. I understand Covid put us all behind and that my case is more complicated because I have both impacted canines and I’m an adult but it still shouldn’t take this long. The right canine is about 97% in place but the left one seems like it’s barely visible from the side. I also fear there may be something wrong with that canine. Either that or I just need to be more patient. I feel so much anxiety though. The only other thing I can think of is when my orthodontist skipped many months of working on my chains because my dentist was concerned about bone loss around the canine and told me either the tooth could be unstable, I’d need a support, or I could lose it. She made it seem serious so I called my orthodontist right away and had them send the X-rays to his office. After that it was like he barely wanted to touch that tooth for months and months and kept saying we’ll see if it falls a bit on its own. I literally showed up to appointment after appointment just for them to look at it and then send me home with no work done. The good news is that my last X-ray was done by a different dentist and he said that he doesn’t see anything concerning. I told my orthodontist this and he replied with “that means the bone grew back” . I hope he’s right and now my treatment can move a little quicker and smoothly 🙏🏼 sorry for the long rant. I have no one to talk to that understands my orthodontic problems 😅

In my experience likely not, I saw mine every 7 weeks before pandemic and on track. They'll probably set you up so that over the 8 weeks you'll continue to progress and it won't be a problem given you follow instructions.

Everytime my dentist changes my rubber colors, the brackets come off and I have to pay a huge amount to get it back even tho she's the one who pulled it off lol. Her bracket also is uneven so my originally even tooth became uneven and she wants to shave it... Don't double or triple ur rubber bands ur teeth might shift too much that ur ortho should take another procedure and it will make ur treatment even longer so just wear them normally.

My dentist was upset my wire wasn’t removed before coming in for a cleaning. Seems like a lot of work going to have it removed, go to the dentist & then drive straight back to the ortho to place the wire & bands back on? Are you supposed to remove your wire for dental appointments? Also, my dentist isn’t doing full cleanings due to Covid..only the teeth scraping.

I got braces 4 days ago The pain isn’t too bad, my teeth are just very sensitive and sore to eat But.. my orthodontist said they might have to remove my gum at the top You know the gum that connects to your lip in the middle of your front teeth? I have a gap in my teeth and he said that gum could cause my teeth to spread again and that he might have to cut it out 😭 Do you know anything about this? I’ve been scared ever since he said it and I don’t know what to do 😭😭

My ortho didn’t take a mold of my teeth. Is that bad? And i overheard them and i have the 18 wire on the bottom and 14 on the top ( i think) so its painfulll

You don’t wear them while eating since food can get stuck in there plus all the chewing might cause it to snap which can hurt. It’s also hard to chew with them on (as per my experience when I forgot to take them off)

It has only been 3 days, and one of them that doesn't have the metal wire on, broke off. Maybe due to the collision of my upper teeth 'extreme crowding'. They did put the cement thingy at the back of teeth so my upper teeth doesn't hit the lower brackets.. but I guess.. things happen.. should I just wait for the next appointment and keep the broken bracket? Or get it fixed asap? Since it's not attached to the wire yet anyway

Do you have the same problem where your wax just refuses to stay on? I’ve been trying to put some on the ends of the braces where the wires end but they usually fall off right after :/ I got my yesterday and dang I lowkey regret it.

i think u should've told ur ortho about the poking wire. It's probably an excess wire. After putting my braces, she asked me if I feel any poking wires on my cheeks so she'll know if there's any need to adjust it. The wax are for the brackets. Not the wires.

19 months in..... i am itching to get these things off so bad. I had a malpractice and had to switch orthos... I got set way back for that..March to end of April is my expected release time. I’m so over braces and ready to be done... the anxiety is brewing and I feel trapped like I’ve reached my goal but just can’t seem to get them off. It’s always another adjustment.. props to my ortho going for next to perfect, but I really am itching to be done. I hope the anxiety pays off.... 2 MORE MONTHS! Uhggggggggg

Almost 10 weeks. I’m on my way to getting my braces tightened and I want my stupid braces off quickly, I can’t deal with them for a whole year and a half. I can’t floss cause my orthodontist never has floss whenever I go in. I use a toothbrush that has soft brisals that are long and I have been using it for 8 weeks now and now it has a ding in it from my braces XD. I also need some advice. How do you keep motivation to brush 4 minutes twice a day. In the morning I don’t eat much and I’m always tired so I keep making up excuses to stay in bed. Then when I get home after school I’m again really tired and don’t wanna stand for 4 minutes in the bathroom brushing my teeth. It’s causing gaps in my brushing routine and I don’t know how to fix it.

Don't go for 4 minutes... Just brush on every side of your braces and you can use water flosser, it's electric and really saves up a lot of time plus gives you a fresh feel!
