When you said "I was born trapped in the wrong body; why do I have to be attacked for something I had no control over?" that brought tears to my eyes. You're absolutely right. Nobody can choose the body they are born with, and you're just being true to yourself. Nobody should be attacking you in any way for living your life in the way that makes you feel happy and complete. You're a beautiful woman, Julie. In my eyes there is nothing masculine about you. You're lovely. And I'm relieved that neither of those encounters became violent.

There was this one time when a guy once asked me "are you even a girl?" and I was just so taken back and I didn't understand what made him say that, but later on I came to realize it was my voice. I have a naturally deep voice, but depending on the environment and who I'm around, it changes, so I was with my besties chatting at a public place and we were laughing and having a good time, so at one moment I'm talking normally and then the next I would talk in a higher tone and personally I never paid attention to when my voice changed, but after what that guy said to me it really left a scar to a point that now I'm constantly watching what I say in public, it really boosted my insecurities and I'm already a quiet person to begin with..but my point is that Julie you go through so much and still you speak out about what you believe in and you guide everyone who wants to transition and by far you are the strongest women I have ever encountered and hearing your stories brings me strength and rage for the people whose wronged you, however I know you'll always come through sparkly and triumphant cause you can work it girl!

what is the correct way to handle a situation when someone is in their transition and they could pass either way and you don't know if they identify as male or female so you don't know what pronouns to use? i went to a movie theater and the ticket person had long hair, feminine voice, facial stub, and a boys name and i wasn't sure if i should say they were pretty or not since i'm sure if they were f to m they wouldn't want to be called pretty. i ended up not saying anything to be safe
@rosequartz96409 жыл бұрын
I would use non gendered pronouns and ask their name. There, I just used it as an example. They, their.
@DarthJane9 жыл бұрын
Carla You can always ask in a friendly manner, I work in a store filling up the shelves and get asked stuff a lot, and a lot of people are unsure. The ones who ask are usually the more pleasant ones (though German doesn't really have the they/their escape, these words are overloaded with other meanings, so people have to choose).
@loserbiotch29 жыл бұрын
Carla non-gendered pronouns work for when you're unsure. always assume that, no matter their body type, if the person is clearly exuding femininity (feminine clothes, hair, make up etc) or clearly exuding masculinity, you should pronoun them with their traits they are choosing to exude. but if you are afraid of misgendering someone and want to know for sure what their pronouns are, pull them aside and ask politely (but not in front of everyone!!! privately!!) and don't make a big deal about it. just say "okay" and move on.
@StaySafeDontDie9 жыл бұрын
Kortnee Tilson Yeah, but with how gray people are with clothing styles now, gendering someone based on how they present isn't a very good idea, either. Like if there's a girl who dresses very masculine but still identifies as a girl, calling her a dude is likely to make her wanna clock you in the face. And all the androgynous people, too. And then there's the trans people who try and present but have a body type completely opposite what you'd expect. I mean I'm a trans dude on hormones who can't bind his chest, clocking out at 5'7, 38DD, 38-30-40. I'm a really curvaceous chick with a flare for wearing men's clothing is how the world sees me 95% of the time. And Idk, it just doesn't work for every occasion, is all.
@kiyo65829 жыл бұрын
Carla You can compliment someone without using "loaded" adjectives. In a case like this, where your interaction with someone is limited, I would just choose a safer compliment like "You're really good looking/attractive" or a more specific "I like your hair/outfit/eyes". Pretty much anyone would be happy to hear that :)

Personally I think the elevator story could have been told without mentioning the race of the people involved. Which we know (or should know) is simply not the case. I'm sorry for what you went through, however, the color of the people could have been left out.

I get what your saying but as someone who is androgynous. I've seen African American teens and experienced the jokes and extra loud ignorance. It happens. Its not the race but the culture. Im also mixed so I know how black ppl and other ppl can be. But a lot of times blacks are really aggressive towards lgbt. Other ppl too.
@natashakhan92139 жыл бұрын
kurakai18 Aggression isn't a black thing, it's not a race thing. Just like ignorance, it's a person thing. Your skin color doesn't set the demographic of a group of people personalities. The lgbt community isn't just made up of white people, people or color are also gay, lesbian, straight, trans, and people of color have also been "clocked" by white people. Maybe where you live you've experienced more negatives from a certain community, but the fact is we aren't all the same.
@Satrina7779 жыл бұрын
Natasha Khan I think that making this about "race" instead of focusing on Joules experience, is actually kind of selfish in a way. Get over it. People are black and people are white, and people are asian, and people are hispanic. If I'm telling a story, you better believe I am giving out every detail. Whether you want to be defensive about it or not, what the other person said is TRUE, African American people who grow up in certain kinds of area's tend to be more aggressive towards LGBT people because they're more ignorant. Usually it's the ones who grow up in the projects or just a shitty uneducated area. Like obviously if they don't have a good education, how the hell are they going to understand the complex situation of being trans? It's NOT so much about the color of someone's skin as it is the CULTURE, like the person above said, which you blatantly ignored. If I met a black woman like Oprah for example, who is an extremely educated amazing woman, she would accept and understand trans people. Whether you want to acknowledge the reality and the truth of the situation, the black culture has gone down hill. Rap has become horribly sexist, and about meaningless shit, and obviously if black men in that culture don't respect women anymore, what makes you think they would ever respect a trans woman? It's the culture, and it's different in some areas, but I have SEEN discrimination and aggressiveness from them with my own eyes. I grew up In the Tri state, I know what I have seen and what I'm talking about. Some white people can be just as bad. But on the whole, I have seen a lot of African American's from ignorant areas attack people for being part of the LGBT. More than white people. Just the way it is. Doesn't mean that ALL African American people are like that, because they're not. But if I had to give a percentage of which race is more discriminatory against the LGBT it would definitely be them. We're not just talking about white and black either, we are talking about out of white, american, European, Asian, Indian, Hispanic, Russian, and everything else. You can't even BE gay or Bi in Africa or you get KILLED. Literally, the shit still goes on over there. SO you put two and two together. I'm not racist, I have black friends, my brothers are mixed, my step mom is black, and I have dated black guys. So, that being said, I also know how their culture is.
@natashakhan92139 жыл бұрын
Sally Rispoli White people, asian people, spanish people, danish people, ANY people who grow up in certain kinds of area's can be more aggressive or less aggressive. Your comment is so ignorant. Stop putting black people in a box, people of color aren't the only ones who can live in a poor neighborhood. The ghetto is not black people territory.The projects and low income housing is not a place to hold black people. You realize, the projects isn't a holding cell for people of color? To follow up the LGBT community is not a "whites" only, so let's stop talking as if there aren't black, spanish, indian, or mexican trans, gay, bi, gender fluid people. There's a difference between color, culture, ignorance. Being white doesn't mean you can't be ignorant. Being black should NOT mean that we should put into a bubble just because someone told a story about being harassed in a elevator. Being black has nothing to do with how ignorant a person can be, if that's the case what is a white person's excuse for being ignorant? LGBT is not a white thing. Discrimination, Intolerance, Ignorance that is a people thing, it knows no color.

I work with a very feminine gay man who identifies as male. He was coming out of the bathroom and this one lady asked if he was a man. I thought that was so rude of her. People these days have no tact. Also an interesting social experiment/topic would be to listen to people recall the past. I notice that the first story ...the woman at the bus stop was not described at all. But the elevator story, it was the race of the offenders was pointed out even though it did not have anything to do with their behavior. I just find it interesting and it would be neat to look to see if this a normal pattern in human beings and if certain circumstances or race causes this to happen.

rosedaline valetine Agreed. I have no idea why Joules had to state their race. Completely irrelevant

Neil I wouldn't have minded if she had mentioned the race of all of them; the lady included. But I'm not surprised at how she feels towards my race (only assuming), everyone in the world seems to regard us with hatred. So, yeah....It's whatever I guess. Won't lose sleep over it, but might unsubscribe to her. Not saying she's in any shape or form racist. I just don't like to associate with....small minded people that can't seem to accept anything passed their biases. I'm human and still growing, but I've taught myself to respect and tolerate everyone. No matter what they look like.
@NeilK9949 жыл бұрын
rosedaline valetine I was thinking the same thing. She only mentioned race when pertaining to the encounter with the black people in the elevator...not the lady at the bus stop. I do hope that was unintentional but i'm with you in the sense of not being surprised if she was somewhat prejudiced against our race. I'll still continue to watch her for the time being as I doubt a transgender woman that understands first hand how it feels to be prematurely judged for things you can't control is inherently racist. It's possible ofc...but highly unlikely
@rosedalinevaletine69319 жыл бұрын
Neil I probably won't unsubscribe, even though I said I might, since I'm too lazy to. But, some things I've realized is that, just cause you're in the LGBT doesn't mean you're not racist/discriminatory, and aren't prejudice. I had to learn that the hard way, because I thought they all were nice understanding, open minded people. But, when something doesn't pertain to their tribulations they don't care. Which I understand, because you're not going through the problem yourself, so you'll down play it, cause you can't really relate.

You need to stop worrying about what other people think about you! You are so beautiful and YOU KNOW IT!! Let the whole world know how hot you are (I think you are doing it right lol) You look like a woman to me. I could have never thought you were born a boy. I started watching you when you had just had your SRS and I was like WTF!!!! I thought you were born a girl but who cares. There are so many surgeries out there to make people feel happy and confident with themselves and that is ok!! I plan on getting surgery on my nose and no one should say shit about it!! I LOVE YOU JULIE!! YOU ARE SO AMAZING!!! DO NOT FORGET IT!! AND YOU LOOK LIKE A FEMALE 100%

the height thing worries me for when I start my transition because I'm about 6" normally and I love heels. Julie, I gotta say you are one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen. When I first saw you, I was just shocked by your beauty. You are absolutely passable, WAAAAY more than I'll ever be. Don't let anybody tell you different. You are stunningly beautiful and you are an inspiration to me and trans people everywhere. I can tell you that seeing how beautiful you are gives me hope that one day I can be beautiful too. Your fantastic personality coupled with your positive outlook on life and how inspirational you are makes you internally beautiful. I'm glad you are here, making videos and helping the community as a whole. I can honestly say that I wouldn't still be alive if you weren't here. You are an amazing person and you keep me (and probably lots of other people) going strong and looking to the future with hope. Stay awesome!

Honey you're gorgeous. Just say, right the first time! You just look nothing like a guy and I'm 5 10 in my bare feet. I'm sure that woman meant no harm. Maybe consider it an opportunity to educate instead of being embarrassed? You could explain how difficult it is for a trans person to have someone bring attention to them in public, even potentially dangerous. Personally I don't know if I'm getting clocked. People are respectful and nice. They treat me as a woman and they don't say stupid stuff. But I'm middle aged and don't dress to stand out when I'm out at the mall. I dress like any other woman my age. You're young and you do dress provocatively, that makes you stand out. Perhaps if you were dressed less to stand out people would take less notice of you. Being clocked is a function of people looking closely because you're noticeable and because you look very nice, clocking you and making nasty comments is a way to pull a nice looking person like you down. Good luck Julie. You deserve nice treatment and respect no matter what you wear, but maybe you need to adjust given all the nasty people in the world - pity their tiny petty minds.

I showed my husband a video of you and Gigi. I love both of you, but from a really manly point of view I ask him to watch a untelling regular video of each of you. He said, " that girl Jules u watch is hot, but I've been meaning to ask you was Gigi a guy". Now I love you both, but I find you to be so relaxed and feminine, were as Gigi comes off like she is trying so hard. I find she talks very valley girl. The point is, I'm surprised that a person would think you were born a man.

It's jealousy. It's all it is.. Genetic women are going to start getting super, super jealous of transgender women going forward in this world. It's about friggin' time. You look drop dead gorgeous btw.
@misssophisticated16989 жыл бұрын
Andy Green Jealousy? It's called plastic surgery. Anyone can get it sweetheart. Some people rather pay for college or a house than spend $100k on changing their entire body! And why would a genetic female be jealous of trans women? Come on? Think really hard, I know you can do it!
@andygreen44789 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm a straight man. It certainly will take some time before more and more men become more open and accepting of the idea of possibly dating a transgender woman. That's unfortunate to hear, catwalk33 that you've seen the most beautiful trans women get rejected for someone half as beautiful as they are. Those beautiful women shouldn't worry..they'll meet the perfect man of their dreams soon enough. My advice is that everyone should just find happiness with themselves before anything else. Don't live life because you care about what others think and that limits your true happiness.
@andygreen44789 жыл бұрын
Well happiness should come first in everybody's lives, Misssophisticated 1 ... If buying a house or paying for college is what makes you happy, then that's awesome! If I wasn't truly happy on the inside of myself, then I would do whatever it took to turn that around. Once they physically become the person they truly are on the inside, then they can focus on the other luxuries in life to add to that happiness. Each to their own...
@misssophisticated16989 жыл бұрын
Andy Green How nice. Why are you acting like you don't know why transwomen and men get rejected? Have you heard of procreation? Some people REALLY are into it. That is a fact of life. Some men want to have their own offspring not adopt and not through in vitro. That is apart of human nature for the last 100,000 years, now it is shocking? GOH! And then there is the fact that every person on earth has a preference. Because someone does not want to date a trans person DOES not make them transphobic. Just like someone that does not want to date someone of another race does not make them racist. This world is too fucking PC thinking that people HAVE to date people they have no desire to. Get over yourselves. I am not telling Asian men the HAVE to date me or they are racist! I live in the real world where everyone has the right to chose their own mate, without society saying it's okay.

Sweetie I wish I could give hug and a long one. I HONESTLY believe you were clocked because you were with your friend and you said you were very tall in the shoes you were wearing possibly factored in as well, but I'm ver confident you were clocked when she made the association with your friend. As fas as the ignorant, buffoons in the elevator, I know them all too well. I knew them very well, in particular, jr. High and high school because I was the fat kid, so I know all to well how you felt in the elevator and how you cried in your room. If I could talk to that fat girl I would tell her to ignore them and to live her life so I am telling you the same thing, ignore them and to live your life!!!!! I think so many trans women make that mistake and worry sooooo much about being clocked that they are forgetting to LIVE!!!!! I would stand in my truth and welcome being clocked!!!!!!! Yes, I once was a boy ,but now I am a FABULOUS WOMAN NOW DARLING! lol Thats tiresome always looking over your shoulder, double checking things, making sure this and that is in order, whew! It's too much! Stop flailing in the water, float on your back and then take a nice swim.
@mynniquinn45999 жыл бұрын
Julie Vue, you weren't born trapped in the wrong body, you were born the way you should have been. In hindsight I am so thrilled that I was assigned male-at-birth, because looking trans is BEAUTIFUL. If someone calls me a man I say "well I am the most beautiful man I have seen." Please do not tell yourself it's the wrong body, that kind of language is what makes trans people feel that they have to get surgery and deny their trans identity. We need to find pride in our trans identity, in the future we will be lauded for our beauty and every man will want to have a trans girlfriend. It just takes patience and strength, I love you girl!

Sigh, people can be so horrible! I didn't really understand the whole Transgender world. But after watching the Bruce Jenner interview and the special keeping up with the kardashians, where they showed him opening up and talking about "her. " I can see how hurtful it can be. You are beautiful, if I saw you in person I would be like, ughhh look at this tall model, while I stand at 4'10 lol. Anyways, the only thing that I think "gives it away", is the way you talk, I'm sorry but your voice still sounds kinda, like, a "gay guy "...
@DarthJane9 жыл бұрын
xbebehsweetzx Have to agree on the voice part, mine still sucks too, but I know I need to practice to get better, Julie seemed to have stopped doing that.
@mysticalmidnightmask9 жыл бұрын
xbebehsweetzx If you look at the linguistics of how "feminizing" voices, SO MUCH work goes into it. I think what you mean by sounds like a "gay guy" is perhaps Julie's overuse of feminine traits while speaking. I assume she's more subdued in real life, but she's known for being trans on YT so its possible the feminine traits are used in greater frequency on YT. But the feminine traits I suppose are a personal thing, and I guess its society's fault that we associate these feminine traits with "gayness". Regardless, we should still be proud of all of the hard work that went into Julie's transition. At this point, voice trait moderation is a bit of a smaller issue.
@DarthJane9 жыл бұрын
mysticalmidnightmask which is why she needs more training but seemingly stopped since quite some time. Every transgender knows it takes years to get to a perfect, or even good, voice and that regular training is necessary, most also eventually start to realize that it's cool if your voice isn't super high (there are a lot, esp in early transition who speak higher than most cis women but at the same time super unnatural) and modulation is important (which she does a good job on). Not sounding like your nose is clogged (which is her biggest issue with her voice).
@xbebehsweetzx9 жыл бұрын
Jana mysticalmidnightmask thanks for understanding my comment! I thought people would read it the wrong way, because I said "gay voice ". Sorry, I don't know what right terms to use. Anyways, I thought that maybe it's because I know that Julie was born a man that even if she speaks feminine, i still would be able to "clock her". So, I watched one of her videos but didn't look at the screen. And I would've thought it was a gay guy.
