Longish story…I was told I needed very unexpected open heart surgery to replace my Aortic valve. I’m only 53. Needed dental clearance. Went to the dentist and was told I had a massive infection and that in the name of getting my heart done quickly, I had 28 teeth removed. Had my surgery 3 weeks later, and everything is good now. We are brave. You for sharing this story, and all of us for keeping going through whatever we’re going through. Christmas miracles abound!!

@@Skyebright1 yes. Not a fun time, but necessary to save my life, so…but I HATE MY TEETH. They are ugly. Hopefully my perms will be better. The whole dental thing felt like a quick money grab, but you don’t know what you don’t know. I’m looking for a better “dental artist” in N.H. Two and a half months out and everything is great! I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I didn’t realize how sick I really was until after surgery. The change is PROFOUND! And it really was easy. I’m sore still, but so grateful!!! ❤️

I agree with the retainer choice...it takes a long minute to get through something like this but you absolutely 100 percent are on the road to recovery. I am ALL the way on the other side..2.5 years..I want to say something that you are not going to believe. The memories of the toothaches?..SHEA THEY GO AWAY ! I went through almost the exact same thing as you for 12 years. Even the same teeth as the ones that were removed. Its hard to imagine how something that consumed my mind for years does not anymore. But I promise you are on your way to the same destination. You will be free Bravo for being brave!! And thanks for sharing such a personal battle. You are an Overcomer❤

Don't throw away the retainer - keep it in case anything happens to the Maryland bridge and you can use it while repairs are made. Always good to have a back up ready! You did a great job taking us along with the process and I know have encouraged many with their dental problems. I am another who has been in the dental world since 1969, have had my share of traumatic issues and you are doing great! Ask your holistic dentist for supplements to reduce inflammation and any residual infection. I could give lots of advice on that, but it is her job to do it! Are you doing warm salt water rinses?

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I have had a lot of difficult dental issues too. And no one has understand the trauma, fear and emotions that it brings up. Hard to explain to anyone who hasn't dealt with significant dental issues. Yes, there are so many worse things that can happen. But your teeth are this part of you and to have them fail on you and having to lose them - it is so difficult. I want to let you know how much you sharing your story has made me feel so much less alone and more optimistic about my dental journey. I felt flawed, like I was such an imperfect failure (even though I know it is not my fault - I have always taken excellent care of my health and my teeth). But you have given me a renewed sense of hope, compassion and forgiveness for myself. I love you so much, thank you for everything!!!!!!!

Shea, thanks for posting this. It’s helpful to see someone with your influence be so vulnerable in this process. I really feel for you and your family during this time because the emotional, physical, mental, and financial load with dentistry is immense. My husband and I are struggling with this same issue. My husband had severe periodontitis that has been eating away at his jaw bone for years. Due to a combination of anxiety, fear, previous poor outcomes, and financial inability we weren’t able to get him the care he needed. He’s lost nearly all of his molars and his jaw is in bad shape to the point where he is not a candidate for implants We’re trying to take steps to try to get him to a place where his jaw is healthier and get him fake teeth. In total, our dentist and orthodontist projected it will take nearly 5 years and 30,000k. It feels nearly impossible with our situation; as we recently bought a house and found out I am pregnant with our first child. To see you in recovery brings hope that miracles can happen. I wish you the best recovery and hope you get to eat the biggest burger with the biggest smile sooner than later Be well ❤

Thank you for sharing your journey! This is going to be so helpful for so many. I know you noticed, but I would have never thought you had teeth removed when you don't have your "teeth" in. Those also look amazing and do help with pronunciations. I am just so happy for your steps to healing. I have a great feeling that 2024 will be the year you THRIVE and not just SURVIVE! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for being you!

Dear Shea, it is so great for you to share it. So many people have problems with teeth and this makes it more “normal” to talk about it. I want to add to everyone else here who are saying that your speech is so much better than many people’s usual speech 😂 You also still look radiant and I cross my fingers this chapter will be closed soon so that you can carry on worry-free. You deserve it so much, I remember from your day one on KZbin when you revealed that’s one of your biggest struggles. You got this, I’m cheering for you!!! 🥳🥳🥳

So glad you're doing well lovely! When I had my wisdom teeth out, gargling with salt water was the best thing ever. Kept the area clean, and helped it heal. Much love to you 🧡🧡

Right now your subtle lisp reminds me of the one of Grimes (when she talks and sings). Charming if anything. You shouldn’t worry about it.

Shea, I can’t thank you enough for sharing this journey with us. My 73 year old husband is going to have almost the exact same thing done within the next year (except all of his remaining bottom teeth will be removed). Now he and I will know what to expect. You’ve got this and I am so proud of you for allowing us to follow along. ❤️👏🏼

My sister had the same thing done at the age of 77. My advice would be though to let it heal as much as you can don't worry about your vanity. She insisted on the bridge being put in immediately and it really set her back and there is a lot of infection that will be coming out at the end so keep taking the antibiotics

Shea, a year from now you'll be making a video about making this decision and how it was the best decision! I just know it. Trust in our creator. He's guiding you. Been thinking of you a lot. My teeth journey is not even close compared to yours, so I can't imagine your frustration. I'll be keeping you in my prayers, for a GOOD healing process.

I'm so happy to see that you're doing a little better. You've been through a lot, and it will take time. All of the stress can really take a toll on you, mentally and physically (I'm speaking from experience), so make sure that you're taking care of your mental health, too. You're in my prayers. Have a Merry Christmas! ❤🎄🎅
