Mickey Rourke is a different case study entirely. His "before" photo shown was right when he was getting interested in boxing. For a few years he quit acting and did just that, which ruined his looks. He later found it impossible to land handsome leading man roles and began a spiral of horrible cosmetic procedures. To do an accurate comparison, you would need to compare his post-boxing headshot vs a recent 2024 photo.

One warning: we’d tell patients not to go whiter than the whites of the eyes. If you go whiter then you end up with the Chicklets look. We want people to see our eyes first and then the teeth. Would you mind doing a more in-depth video on vitiligo? I'm very, very curious about it as someone with vitiligo myself. When I was little, I often used MJ as an example because I thought he was just like me, a melanated person whose spots homogenized over their entire body. When he passed, I was pretty young and it was before it was considered cool or candid to talk about procedures you've had publicly so I've always been curious as to why everyone behaves as though it's so impossible to end up with one skin color with vitiligo. So my overarching question is: is vitiligo only spots and patches of missing melanin over the body or can it homogenize? If it can't, what are some other skin conditions and/or autoimmune disorders that can have this result?

I saw Dolly Parton on a show years ago talking about plastic surgery. She was asked (in a nice, and respectful way) if she had had any plastic surgery done. She readily admitted to having had several procedures done. She said that, yes, she would continue to have things done as needed, as she aged. She was very funny saying that..."It if it bags and sags, I"ll have it sucked and tucked" and git rid of it, if I can". Then she giggled and grinned and said she wanted to "look as good as she could, for as long as she could". The interview was honest and funny, and pure Dolly.

This is fascinating. I had a septoplasty at age 20 (back in the day of which internal splints were utilised post op), I have found in the past few years (I’m now 40), that my nose has begun changing and become more concave in the septal area. I also experience pain and a purple/blue tone on the nose/under the eyes that comes and goes. I actually asked two drs (one being an ENT) about whether it is possible and was told unequivocally “no”, that the septoplasty remains forever. It made me feel as though I was going mad when I heard that, as it’s very obvious in photos. The Dr attempted to tell me it was just different lighting which gives it that effect (insert eye roll. Of course I take that into account, but please don’t insult my intelligence). I really appreciate how much you both try to deter from surgery as the first port of call. Can you or Dr. Youn maybe do a video about red light therapy? It's really such a simple but beneficial treatment, not only for the skin but for other health issues too! I use my red light lamp about 6 inches from my abdomen (recommended by my doctor) every other day and it helps with my GI issues. I want to use it on my face more often but I worry about the effect on my eyes. I don't think people talk about that enough. I have red light blocking glasses but they're not 100% protective if I'm looking right at the light. I'm not sure how damaging it is if your eyes are exposed to it, but I have read that it can affect your sleep if you look at the light too close to bedtime (similar to looking at bright screens before bed). So I think that's where the red light mask can be problematic, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Red Light Therapy is something I use often. I have a mask and also 3 RLT panels. The RLT mask I have is soft, has eye protection, and comes with a battery pack so it can be worn while doing other things around the home, so if you are concerned about your eyes, there are ones available that do have eye protection. Penny who is a Master Esthetician is on the YT channel *Penn.Smith* . She has excellent talks about RLT and antiaging. Although I started using RLT for skin benefits I also use to maintain good brain health and hearing. Dr. Michael Hamblin, PhD has many talks on the benefits of Red Light Therapy. . RLT does help the eyes. Dr. Andrew Huberman has a good talk on that topic. It is only for a very limited amount of time though. As the other person who commented said, it also helps people who have problems sleeping. For an injury RLT has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps lower or eliminate pain. Love RLT. It has so many benefits! ❤😍❤

Mickey Rourke's face was destroyed when he tried to fight professionally. That gorgeous face from the 30's was shattered and had to be rebuilt. He says the doctor he went to botched it and that's why he never looked the same again, even when he was still young. It gives him character as a guy, if he was a woman, way different story, career dead in the water. Love this collab guys! Nice work!

Woah I've heard the concept of the body having memory in relation to dentistry and was fascinated that our teeth remember where they originally were and will naturally try to shift back (hence why you have to wear retainers after braces) but had no idea the same concept relates to other parts of our anatomies like the nose?!! That's so wild considering on my instagram explore page I keep seeing rhinoplasty results and it is always advertised or presented as a permanent or everlasting change but heard even from people who have them that it requires a lot of maintenance or as you guys mentioned the nose also ages and can change shape n such. My mind is still blown lol and idk there's something slightly poetic and beautiful about our bodies trying to go back to the original state? I'm curious as to why it does that - does it have to do with equilibrium somehow? Does the body sense a defect has happened and is the first healing response is to use memory to go back to the way things were before? As some sort of coping mechanism? My mind is so activated lol. Thanks for the educational content!

I don't know but your comment is definitely fascinating as to the reason the body reverts back to its original state, or attempts to.

Noses and ears just never stop growing. A nose will keep growing even after a rhinoplasty, hence it will still change in appearance with age, even if it was reshaped. A ‘done’ nose of course won’t fully regrow, say, a hump, but it will grow larger, may droop a little due to the aging of tissue and cartilage etc etc

Thank you, Dr. Linkov and Dr. Youn, for your input. Last month, the daughter of a friend of ours was visiting. She was in her 50s (at the oldest) and had an facelift that made her look like the Joker! Called my daughter and told her, "Remind me again NOT to go under the knife! I'll put up with my 'sags and bags' before I look like that!" Of course, I know that you are equitable and would not get your lifts too "tight" or anything, but I have seen enough work to be content as I am! BTW Cindy Crawford's nose today looks exactly like mine without surgery!

Iggy also had an upper bleph and brow lift. I have analyzed Jamie Lee Curtis a long time ago, and before she started acting, she got a nose job around college age and she had gotten breast implants later on.

I am white and I had Vitiligo. It started w a dime size spot on my forehead. My Doc told me he thought it was Vitiligo, I said you mean like Michael Jackson? He said he didn't think that is what turned Michael white. The whole transformation took about 10 yrs. I really did look awful, different skin colors on your face. I got a lot of stares. Pictures of me during that time, showed how bad it really was. Now I have to stay out of the sun, or I could get skin cancer really easily. Now I'm super, super white. I don't like it.

I can’t believe a plastic surgeon would suggest Gwyneth Paltrow may have had a nose job. That is utter madness. Nobody goes through that when they have a perfect nose. Why would anyone take the chance? For a 1/20th of an inch change? Dude - it’s called makeup. A little shadow can “thin out” a nose without the brutal surgery and lengthy recovery. Not that she needed a thinner nose. Oh, and the only substantial surgery that Jamie Lee Curtis ever had were her breasts. She was tiny in the 70s. It was a great boob job too.

I think Jaime Lee Curtis is a beautiful beautiful woman and I hope I look half as good as her at her age. I know she has had some work done but she has "allowed" the aging process to happen and she just looks wonderful. I do not like the "done" look for myself but I have no issues about people choosing to do so. If you can feel happy with yourself and smile when you look in the mirror without harming others then absolutely, enjoy yourself and love what you see. I just do not think I could choose to do that for myself. I am all about avoiding as much pain as possible (I have had enough to last me a lifetime thank you) It is very brave to know how you want to look and go for it, even though it is going to cause you pain and risk
