Ok, Since i have a Zoe myself and i'm well versed in throwing spanners around, i'll surely subscribe to your membership, so that i will be able to fix some minor issues i will eventually encounter. Great work. Keep it up!!

Fabulous, I would like to send this to an African colleague of ours.The Zoe seems to be a great vehicle to get to grips with principles.

Is it necessary to remove the whole stack to replace the AC compressor?
@garycevrepairsАй бұрын
No, you can take the compressor off the top while the stack is still in.

Renault got that bit of design right, at least 😂

Great that you're showing how these repairs can be done. However, how many owners are going to opt for such a repair once the vehicle becomes older and other components such as the battery pack show signs of degradation? I think it'll be end of life for most cars at that point, uneconomical repair in other words. That kinda annoys me though, the whole point of an EV is that it's supposed to be better for the environment, not produce extra profits for the automotive industry!

Interesting points. Many of these Renault Zoe’s have battery leases so there is a continuing warranty on the battery and the Zoe battery lasts very well due to excellent battery management including battery cooling and heating. The previous Zoe I rebuilt was on 116k miles and the range from new had only reduced by about 10%!! Cheers

@@Altair885 ICE engines also suffer degradation as they are, especially from wear and tear from lots of short journeys. It just can't be measured using an OBD dongle!
@Altair885Ай бұрын
@MrWobling Sure they do, but they usually manage to accomplish a far higher mileage before a major failure. Look and see how many low mileage EVs are already sent for scrap, it's criminal.
@garycevrepairsАй бұрын
You have a way to see the mileage of cars that are scrapped, filtered by fuel type?!
@MrWoblingАй бұрын
@@Altair885 I'd argue this is more about lack of competence at main dealers and lack of availability at independents, when it comes to repairs. Main dealers "fix" issues by swapping £1+k modules, at the customers expense, until the problem goes away. Hardly surprising that EV repairs are too often deemed uneconomical, is it?

Rear axle motors for the win. What's the point of having a 25 dollar bearing replacement and 15 hours of labour. Plain bad engineering.
@alanbenson9626Ай бұрын
I couldn't agree more. If the bearings had been man enough for the job they would last many times longer. The design layout is quite simply done for ease of manufacture and does not consider maintainability.
@MrWoblingАй бұрын
@@Hookeslaw you would however likely need a full lift to be able to work on a rear axle motor.

Range looks seriously compromised. At that battery level should have at least 100 miles range irrespective of weather.

When I received the car it was at a very high state of charge which isn’t ideal for the battery so I left it sitting running the heater to just use up some charge so the recent energy usage has been 0 miles covered but several kwh consumed by the heater ! Not exactly normal driving efficiency. Cheers.
