It's absolutely dogsh*t that employers aren't required to give US a 2 week notice that we're being let go, but yet we're required to notify them 2 week or more before WE quit.. It's so unfair.

@@devink.3609 True, true, but usually to not "burn a bridge" with a former employer and be able to use them as a reference it's obvi kind of a requirement of us. It's all a game :/

Yo I have to say, your apartment, the clothes, the chain, the lighting bro; your style is impeccable and it really inspires me. Please keep talking about mental health, there are people out there like me who need to hear it over and over again because - I really thought I could just ignore that stuff and keep working, and I still struggle with it. I'm out here trying to dive deep on C# and .NET and not coming up for air.

Hi, I share your channel with eager-to-learn devs, as you consistently give solid career advice. Keep posting videos, in good times and in less good. You hit the nail on the head with your advice on what to study ("work on projects", "know your tech stack"). Employers (other devs and hiring managers) are looking for talent that can contribute on day one. Most work out there will be mundane enhancements on existing projects, with existing frameworks. Candidates that demonstrate comfort and familiarity with that tech stack or in some cases other comparable tech stacks are going to get that job over someone that can solve algorithmic "riddles" but fail to show how they could add business value to the company. Recording a presentation of your take home assignment is also very clever life hack, wish I thought of it! Employers want to understand your thought process for solving a solution. Usually there are many acceptable solutions for a problem, but being able to explain your reasoning is a step up over competing candidates. Working on projects also has the benefit of building your confidence as well as your competency. Instead of "faking it 'til you make it", you can "know it and show it".

I saw this coming. I keep my ears against the wall since I been in the IT field for 21 years. What I've gathered through conversations and articles is that frontend and backend development may become completely automated through AI. So, I decided to focus more on AI and/or embedded software engineering. Right now, there are petabytes of historical data that have been sitting on hard drives waiting for developers to make use of it. R or Python for big data and AI have better opportunities and will pay great. There will be a greater demand for data scientist in the near future. As for myself, I want to work with robotics like I have in High School many many moons ago, lol. Don't become comfortable with front-end or back-end web app development. Keep learning new technologies and research where the industry is heading. Stay ahead of the game!

Hello, do you think I can do a computer science degree without prior knowledge? I studied bio,chem and phy, to get into medicine but failed to get the proper marks to enter med school( in my country u can enter med school through A/Ls exams) and may I know which degree is better, a software engineering degree or a computer science degree? Please give me some advice.

@@autumn399 Hello! Anyone can major in computer science with no background in computers. Software engineering is a part of the computer science curriculum. Computer Science is what you want to major in. You also have other ways of breaking into software engineering through bootcamps and paid internships. It really depends on what path you're willing to take. I took the lesser which I didn't have to take out any student loans and I was paid during my internship which lead into a full-time position. Hope this helps!

Leetcode is a buss head movement hate it and love it. Grind hard concept like Sliding Window and rushing the process of understanding topics cause you need job ASAP is the most insane thing. Project matter more what you can do or bring to the table is shown in the projects not the leetcode. Look at the odds you get 4 questions from a pool of 2500 question. INSANE

Initially, I just want to say to prioritize my health and to get my life back in order. But, I don't know if thats the best way to sell myself. Any advice is welcomed!

Thats literally what I would tell interviewers when I took a mental health break. I think working somewhere where they dont value that is a red flag to me. How can anyone see it as a negative to take a break from life and take care of yourself? If they do, they arent worth your time in my opinion.
@TheGreatslyfer

Yeah while that is deep down a respectable thing to do, I don't believe it's what you should say at an interview. Focusing on what skills you built and projects to demonstrate that has a much better look imo.
