Satoshi went to the wood as Henry David Thoreau experienced the nature "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Love that guide to the Path 🧘‍♂️😀👍

Thank you Satoshi for taking us along on your hike today. The weather looked perfect. I could definitely hear the sounds of nature. Beautiful and soul soothing for this Southern Californian.💜

J.R.R. Tolkien said, "Not all who wander are lost." But, sometimes they are, at least momentarily. 😊 Getting lost with Satoshi-san wasn't scary, it was "comfortable," as he says, because one has absolute confidence that he'll find the right path again shortly. I'm a hiker, wilderness camper, and nature lover. I would adore wandering the woods with Satoshi listening to the birds, frogs, insects, and other wildlife. Nature is so renewing. I'd love to see a video (or videos) of Satoshi nature rambling in Yamagata in Autumn, pointing out all the sights, sounds, and smells he loved as a child. Thank you so much, Satoshi and Shinichi, for this peaceful and uplifting interlude! ❤❤🦌🐞🐦🌲

Hi brother Satoshi! What a beautiful walk! I had to giggle when you spoke about the insects and the frogs and how brother Shinichi was a city boy…..While I love love the sound of insects in the forest, I just don’t want to see them. Brother Shinichi and I always laugh about how together we would be running away from any insects. Mount Daisen is totemo subarashi ne! I love seeing the ski resort in the summer time. The whole area is stunning! Thank you for taking us on your forest adventure. I’m so glad that your knees were okay brother and that it wasn’t 💩 that you stepped on on that path…….😊 Take care!!

The building (on the left hand side) that he mentions at around 31:50 is still a ski rental place. We rented ski's and boots from there last weekend then walked up that road to get to the first ski lift. The snow was still good. That first ski lift is short but actually pretty steep and scary. The ones on the main runs were fine. And where he is at 3:47 and also at the end of the recording, if he went up that street on the left (where there is a building called KOMOREBItO) and went up that road then there is a nice little onsen up there called 'Daisen Hinokami Goen Yuin' on the left hand side, maybe about 1-2 minutes walk from that corner. Has a rotenburo style bath.

A very nice walk. Worth it to see Mt Daisen without snow and that it was an extinct volcano...or at least dormant! Hawaii Island has 2 active volcanoes right now so it is very spectacular with the lava flowing.
