That sounds like public system in my country. Unless it's an emergency, you go to a clinic 1st to see a GP then you get a refferal for to the hospital if necessary

@@Efreeti My fault I didn't proofread my comment. Makes sense either referred to hospital by G.P general practitioner or be brought by E.R depending on the severity of your case. For Connor's, it's referrals for every single procedure, routine or request. Now that is a nightmare.

@@jambonzer1603 Sure, the NHS has its problems, when you have 70 million customers, not all of them are going to be happy! However as someone who has had relatives under go various cancer diagnoses their treatments and support have been superb! If you get hit by a car there is no better country to be rushed to hospital in and you won’t go bankrupt for being sick!

They have a trick where in if they designate a project as "England and Wales" they can take Welsh money from the treasury on solely English projects. Idk how it is most places but in the US you can go to any doctor as long as you make an appointment. So no need for a referral if you know what kinda of doctor you need. I have a PPO insurance plan which means I can literally go to any doctor I want. Now if you don't have that kinda insurance then yeah, they're gonna want a referral for insurance reasons But if you're rich enough you can always pay out of pocket even then

In europe, you just call your medical professional, and they can send your information over to any other medical professional you authorize, or you can just request a copy and take it yourself.
