I've owned that same exact model for almost 4 years. It runs about 10 months out of the year, and the time we don't use it, it still stays on the post just turned off. It's still going strong and still using the same exact battery. We get around 7kv on our fence. But we also have 3 ground rods for it about 5' deep and spaced close to 10' a part. It's a great unit and gallagher probably makes some of the best built units out there. You got a good unit.

Your tester shows volts not joules. I had a unit like yours and it only lasted two years. Changing the battery didnt help as the joules are less than 1 on those units. I started using my other 12v fencer with a deep cell battery and 20w solar panel and now get 8 or 9000v.
@rawa54574 жыл бұрын

Almost bought the s100, I really wanted a 12v battery but it was just more power than I needed and couldn’t justify the cost. Looks like a sweet energizer though!
@floydfarms15784 жыл бұрын
Farmer Tyler Ranch the joules rating is just as important as the volts. The S100 was the strongest portable solar joules rating we could locate for a decent price. My goal is to Hotwire the whole farm from an M1000 at the barn and start using the S100 on rented land and stockers. On rented land I’d be doing multiple hot wires which really loads these guys over the miles.

Good to see new product testing. I've had poor luck with longevity of the units I've tried. I’ve been really happy with it, it just works. Still on the original battery too. If you’re doing a single line on 10 acres that s40 will give them quite a jolt! Great fence insurance. You'd think a cow would respect barbed wire more than a little wire they can barely see...but they learn quickly to give that little wire a healthy distance. I have seen a horse do an emergency stop after a single wire was put up across his 40-acre field BEFORE the wire was even turned on.

Can't say what your test numbers are for certain but some testers measure Kilo Volts. 4500 volts will get your attention enough to avoid touching that again. It's not the volts but the amperage that kills.
