Going to get the recall update performed. I noticed possible unlisted changes in the car after the update. The update seems not to have helped me at all. linktr.ee/craz...

What I think I feel in the pedal is that there is less travel distance for the regen area of the accelerator pedal. It still regens just as heavily but with less travel area in the pedal.

Makes sense. That is a good thing because sometimes I have to hit the brake to stop at a stop sign even in level 4 braking.

Fair enough, by the end of the decade EVs should be in a much better place you'll have more choice and a lot more chargers.

No problem at all at 30 amps ….which is what I use. Plenty fast for overnight 20 to 80. Haven’t noticed a change in pedal but I seem to be getting more mileage. Love my car…Ioniq 5

Hey CP, I did some tests (using CarScanner) yesterday while I was charging my I5 via home level 2 charger and wanted to pass this along to you. The AC inlet temp never got above 150 degrees after 5 hours of charging. (Temperature here in Greensboro, NC was around 68) I have a ChargePoint Flex Home unit and it is set for 40 Amps@220VAC. My car is set to pull 100% current and was right at 9 KwH charging. Since I'm not having any charging issues I'm thinking this is probably the normal AC inlet temperature most everyone gets for level 2. (Obviously you discovered the high end that causes the failure) My suggestion would be to take the car to the Hyundai dealer and just ask them to try and charge the car with their level two charger and when it fails to do so in 20 minutes or so, tell them to fix it. If they don't, then get in touch with Hyundai corporate. Hopefully this helps. If you need to see any screen shots of my test I'll be glad to email or text them to you.

It's strange that all North American cars don't have this problem. If it was a design defect or hardware defect you would think it would affect everybody the same but it doesn't.... It's also not a problem on European cars, and it seems to only affect maybe 10% of the people I've talked to that have NorthAmerican cars... I've tried five different level 2 EVSEs to the same effect so unless the universe just hates me it should overheat just the same at the dealership.
@wesbishop37906 ай бұрын
@@Crazypostman I'm pretty sure the universe loves you! (especially Duck) LOL From the opinion of an engineer who has been doing this longer than I care to say, I think it's either a bad connection or bad temperature sensor. Cheers!

4:00Less force needed (foot power) to regen brake in level 3. I use level 4 mostly. Glad the steering is easier. That's always good. But the auto steering is phenomonal (spelling is hard) compared to my Chevy Impala.

Love the car but you would never be able to charge at that rate in Texas heat. I think in 2025 Hyundai may have some of this solved. But Tesla is just years ahead of them.
@Crazypostman6 ай бұрын
Well for DC charging the ioniq beats the pants off of Teslas. Teslas have always had a meh charging curve, and it's not improving with their new cars either. This AC charging problem is a defect It doesn't affect every car but Hyundai certainly needs to get it figured out because it's really annoying.
@Ed-sh8jt6 ай бұрын
Agree it's faster to charge when it works. but I was referencing more about the other TESLA technology, like the advanced heatpump system. over the air updates so you don't have to drive to dealers for FW updates.

@@Ed-sh8jt Yes Tesla certainly leads the way with software updates that's for sure

I saw a Maverick truck at Food Lion in Kernersville, NC. I heard the telltale EV sound and there it was but its a hybrid I think. I have only seen 2 Lightenings (spelling is hard) here on North Carolina in the wild. One looked plain like a fleet truck and the other was totally tricked out.

Postman, its already proen to not overheat at 32 amps just charge there you will be fine. The dealership guys ( service) are not good yet, meaning they dont have enough experience. The ionic guy is hatd head as welllikes to level 2 charge at 40 amps dumb,do 32 thatbis plenty fast

I am sorry you are still having that overheating at temps in the 50s. Not good. I have not had the update (recall fix) on my Ioniq 6 but will after the solar eclipse. I'm supersticious that way. Just kidding. But seriously, I'll let you know what I think after I get the update

Wierd, i got my 2024 genesis gv60 in january, and i had no problem doing home charge with level 2 at friends house. It had no problems with AC charge, and genesis dealer called me that there's a recall earlier this week, came and picked up my car, did the softweare update, and brought my car back. There were few subtle changes, but otherwise i havent had any problems before and after the update.

The overheating doesn't affect every car for some reason.

You need a new charge port, software will not fix it.
@Crazypostman6 ай бұрын
I agree, except software is all they seem to be offering. I've went in three times their solution is just to lower the amperage, They won't replace it for me.
@wesbishop37906 ай бұрын
I believe it is something to do with the charge port area too. Ioniq Guy had the same problem on his 2022 and he tore down the charge port to investigate, then put it back together and the problem mysteriously went away. He has a video showing this. I also have a 2023 I5 SEL AWD but have never had the issue and level 2 charging is all I do. Hyundai should really pay attention to this because it's not cool! (Pun intended 😎)
