My opinion on Becky's extra dishware: doesn't count as duplicates. I think duplicates are more "don't have 2 ladles if you only ever need one (guilty of this tho). Dishes are gon' break. Keep 'em.
@Simon_Simone5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with this but when I read it I realized that I've owned the same dishes and none of them have broken in almost 16 years. Glass cups on the other hand....
@masha73775 жыл бұрын
I think even double ladles can be justified! If you have the storage space, why not pack up totally functional stuff and save it for the future? Things break, get lost, maybe someone in their family moves or they themselves get a cottage, or even one day their kids will move out and then they'll be happy to have spare stuff! I'm moving out soon and very happy that my grandma's house is essentially one big storage space of towels, plates, cutlery, bed linens, even old furniture etc. As long as it doesn't negatively affect your lifestyle, why not. To some extent, this even goes for clothes. Have two black jumpers? Great, pack one up and store it until the other one is unwearable, or you just don't like it anymore (let's be honest, after ten years, most people want some new stuff, understandably).
@aries38075 жыл бұрын
you guys did great yayy i think people forget the KonMari method is not minimalism- it's only keeping stuff that sparks joy (ie. is useful in your life), so duplicates of dishes and things like that technically 'spark joy' because they make you feel safe about breaking a dish and having a replacement. Furthermore, you feel bad about throwing it out so it makes sense that it's something useful to you, maybe not the extent of 'joy' but it's something that would deplete your joy if you got rid of it

YES please keep doing decluttering videos they are so motivating and honestly I got a little sad when this video ended I want FEATURE LENGTH FILMS and details of the lint under your furniture being cleaned ladies YES! Also Becky please finish the bench!
@Glitterforest5 жыл бұрын
I'm all for having lots of extra dishes and cutlery! It's so nice to know that when I have guests, there will always be enough for everyone and I don't need to create waste with single use plates and cutlery. I like to get the really thin plates so I can stack a lot of them in my cupboards. It's easier than having spares somewhere else in the house. That way they are always there when I need them :)

🌎💚Environmental things I loved about this video: -making use of thrifting first -buying glass/straw storage, not plastic -making use of your community rather than taking the treadmill to the dump -taking cardboard to the recycling center -Kelsey now has bulk containers for the store! Less packaging! Yayyy!

But Kelsey's also using the compost bin to contain her cleaning items..so where does her compost go?? 🤔🤔🤔

Marissa L she said that that specific compost bin didn’t fit in her freezer (where a lot of people keep their compost to avoid odors) and she has another one that she uses so she’s just using that bin to hold her cleaning supplies

My hubby and I live in a small space. When we first got married, I had a hard time trying to organize our space. I just moved in and took all my stuff with me. I myself am a very senitmental person. I just can't seem to toss stuff. I made a goal to really work on my space. It's taken 7 years really. I made my goal offical about 2 years ago. When we had two rodents in our small space, that really changed my whole outlook on stuff. I had to go through and declutter alot of stuff. Especially, the stuff where the mouse or rat had chewed threw it. Lesson to learn! I have not read the tiddy up book. I do feel that you have to take the information in that book and really apply to your lifestyle. I have done so much research about her book that I just don't feel its really something that I need to buy. The concepts in the book, can be adapted to your lifestyle. Like for instance, I have a plastic strainer in my kitchen. I don't love it. It was something my hubby had when I moved into our space. I am trying to steer away from buying so much plastic. I also don't want to toss it because I use the strainer all the time. I think you don't love something that you use all the time, don't toss it. It's not cheap to go out and replace everything in your home for things you love. Sometimes, it's okay to not love everything in your home. I am okay with that. If I loved everything in my home, I would never want to get rid of anything. Anyways, the video was great. Good to see people slowly making lifestyle changes. :)

I vote for the "building a bench" video! Great job in your basement. Looks like a great space to design and make something out of it - like a guest room, or a TV / Family room, or a craft room, or a music room..... you get the picture I'm sure. Just a thought! The apartment clean up went well too. Better use of storage space, which is a must for a small apartment! Great job! XOXOXOX to both of you!

Basement make over would be nice to see. How would you optimize the use of a basement instead of just storage? Maybe guest room?
@PWingert19664 жыл бұрын
Cord and cable clutter...easy solution. Create kits based on function. Include one of each cable type and a power bar and place them in toolbox containers labelled by function or by staff member or by intended application. Vlogging kit, DIY film kit #1, #2 etc. thing like charging cables for iPhones can be organised by manufacturer and by length. I also have guest kits that guests can use when they come over that have power cable, power bar,, guest wi-fi password, gaming mouse and keyboard, , password to the guest desktop and local attractions such as pizza places and chinese restaurants. I usually leave them on a guest bed ready for when a guest comes over. Kitting stuff means it is then grab and go rather then sorting through cable bins. Another thing I do with a toolbox is check in and check out and person and then and an inventory list inside the box.

Kudos to everyone for accomplishing so much! Even though I'm quite ACD (Atttention Cleaning Defecit) I've found that I don't do well with purging/ cleaning routines or programs because I'm one of those "if I don't do it now, it won't get done" people. If I find something that belongs somewhere else, I must put it there or else it will remain in the wrong spot indefinitely. Of course, when I get to that "right spot," I'll often find something else that needs to be cleaned/ moved so that thing can be put away. Then I'll find something else in the wrong spot that needs to be somewhere else... I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this, so HI to all my fellow cleaning challenged peeps!

honestly i think a lot of people dont listen to marie kondo, like marie kondo doesnt tell u to get rid of all ur stuff and live a minimalist lifestyle, she says to cut down on stuff that doesnt make you happy.. like i cleared out my room using the konmari method and my room is still full to the brim of stuff, but im not holding on to anything that makes me really demotivated to look at.. like that doesnt help with your dishware question but its more that like.. marie kondo isnt a minimalist by any means, shes a "utilise your space better so you can get to things more easily and only keep those things you love so you dont get annoyed each time you open ur closet and only see things that u dont like to wear but keep because What If" ist
@ameliebohnlein51995 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess it's due to the fact that both are kinda popular right now and both encourage you to declutter, but Marie was never about minimalism. In fact if you like something and more of it'd make you happier she'll be the first one the encourage that. I feel like Marie Kondo is about having your belongings mirror who you are and minimalism is a lifestyle trying to achieve a more consumerism-critic, generally more simple life.

Oh yeah Marie Kondo says to hang clothes that you think want to be hung so for me that's always collared shirts and chiffon/flowy clothing. I think if I ever got another drawer maybe I'll start folding collared shirts in her way to protect them but for now I think they're happiest hung up.
