It's refreshing to see how naturally "messy" your house is from the start, and I mean that very kindly. From blankets and messed up couches, to stuff on your beside table, to a muddy rug, you can tell you actually live in your house. I always beat myself up about how my house gets cluttered and disorganized so it's great to see a realistic messy house get turned into a "put together" home.

I was a bookseller for 5+ years and I will fight literally anyone that says yOu cAnT uSe bOOks aS dEcOr. You (general you) would be disgusted at how many BRAND NEW books even my small indie destroyed and threw away every month- big box stores are even worse. Late-stage capitalism is bad any destruction of perfectly usable objects for contractual/insurance/tax gains and/or just sheer excess is bad and thrift stores *also* landfill whatever doesn’t get bought and put to use. Never apologize for utilizing something that would otherwise be literal trash. Use is use. 💁♀️
@deelirious2 жыл бұрын
The thing and I am not here for a fight, is that not being ok with books as decoration in not necessarily because you (general you) believe that books are sacred and are meant only to be read. It can be also because you believe that the message you read when someone is using books as decoration is that the user of books as decoration is a poser and the aesthetics take a dive down when that happens.
@E425452 жыл бұрын
@@deelirious I appreciate how respectfully you phrased this and tbh the aspect you’re referring to is an agree to disagree thing imo. I (and I don’t mean this condescendingly at all bc I think we all shift back and forth in opinion constantly) used to feel the same way, along with band merch etc. What shifted that for me was starting to notice the things *I* liked aesthetically but knew relatively nothing about and it becoming a don’t throw stones thing. It would be one thing if like yeah someone who NEVER read actively hated reading had an apartment full of books for the sole purpose of making themselves look a certain way to others (ie like maybe a more safe/relatable person to a date they’re bringing home idk)- BUT it’s not like we can necessarily tell that surface level. The older I’ve gotten the less I’ve given a s- if people like things aesthetically *for themselves* so long as it’s not an attempt at manipulation, you know?
@deelirious2 жыл бұрын
@@E42545 as you said, is good to cordially disagree. I usually don’t comment about things I don’t like, This time in the video it was asked so many times not to do so that I felt I I had to. I agree, to each its own but I don’t like it and it is also OK. I am not trolling I am respectfully giving my point if view when prodded, by Becky’s comments and by your “I will fight…” I believe that disagreeing is not lacking respect and the more points of view the merrier. I Don’t try to convince anyone to come to my way of seeing things, just putting my cards on the table, not that anyone cares nor they should.
@MK-zs7jl2 жыл бұрын
@@deelirious tbh that’s an even worse reason. If every book stays intact and they’re literally just being put around their home then it really shouldn’t affect you at all lol. People who dislike others for enjoying aesthetics are such pick me’s… you really don’t want people buying books for decor because they’re nOt DoInG iT rIgHt. It’s giving control issues.

@@MK-zs7jl It is wonderful that you have the compass that indicates which reasons are good and bad, it must be very useful in life, specialy when the good ones are yours. Fun behind the scenes! The cutting tool for bevelled edges on mat card, I want one! 🌝 Almost forgot... I have books EVERYWHERE! Please don't use tape on your art prints!!!! You can mount it using museum-grade tacky linen tapes you can buy in art supply stores. The adhesive in tape will yellow over time and literally seep into the paper fibers, and will chemically cross link and never be able to remove it. The tacky linen tape is made with water-soluble adhesive so that if you ever need to remove it you can use minimal amounts of water to take it off. Source: I'm a book conservator and I see and work with tape removal all the time on books and paper/archival materials.

You can add drainage holes to pots or vases pretty easily, use the same technique as drilling glass. Get a diamond drill bit of the diameter you want and have running water on the hole as you drill. I don't press either, the weight of the drill will be enough. If you do that even with one drainage hole and add a small base dish that vase will work until the plant gets bigger. Then you can smash the vase and repot it. Bonsai is a way to grow trees miniature, a technique rather than a species. That plant will need more light long time and might not survive inside at all.

As much as I get not wanting to have the batteries charging on top of the piano for aesthetics. I think it needs to be swapped for an option that has ventilation and not fabric/material on top of it. Charging batteries get super hot as they charge, I am concerned with you having such a flammable option on top of it and creating a fire hazard.

If you put that plant in the vase I'd do waterand leca instead of soil, if you use soil you will have to break the pot to get the plant out. Also because it has a smaller neck if the roots get so big that they fill the round area they won't be able to come through. I would either do it in water and keep pulling it out every once in awhile to make sure it still fits through the hole or use a pot that has a wider opening than the base is
