I'm not sure if you're wearing the correct outfit here. I can't decide if you should be wearing a white lab coat or a red velvet smoking jacket. so my understanding of the reasoning behind adding banana puree to the media is that it provides amino acids that may not be present in the nutrient solution alone and some genera absolutely require them, but some growers will tell you that it promotes growth of any plants within the flask (they grow bigger, faster).

HAHAHA. I was actually told to wear a labcoat by a friend but that felt too full of myself and building the expectation of professionalism and that I know things I don’t. I guess the red smoking jacket would be an option because I have a burgundy velvet one… it’s noted haha. Banana offering essential amino acids is interesting. I guess it would have been added to the medium in the flasks I’ve seen (cause that was dark). I’ll look into it. THANKS, GORGE!!!!

Thanks for this Matt, it was a great explanation on why orchids need to be sown this way. My husband - University lecturer and researcher ( quantum crystallography) didn't seem to "get it" and would not believe me when I told him you can't just throw orchid seeds into the medium and let them grow. I am going to have him watch this. Best of luck that there was no cross contamination. Looking forward to the updates.

Urg. Typical physicist move. They just don’t get it. 🙄 I went on a date with one the other day and they’re just too preoccupied with how clean physics are. Meanwhile let’s not forget my favorite physicist joke: “a physicist tries to prove that all odd numbers above 1 are prime numbers. 3 - correct. 5 - correct. 7 - correct. 9 - measurement error. 11 - correct. Done”

Looking forward to next episodes. It reminds me making jam and sterilizing the pots and making vacum inside them😃. I really enjoyed the way you explained why orchid seeds have to be sown that way for lack of endosperma and especially the nature contract talk was superb 😍😃

Thank you so much for watching and your amazing praise! Indeed, the comparison to jam is very appropriate - maybe like the Portuguese Marmelada? Stay tuned for a haul you might find inspiring haha

@@MattbyNature portuguese marmelada is hard so it goes into larger recipients... But pumkin jam with nuts, yes.... New haul... Looking forward to it 🤩

Me neither - hahaha! Spoilers: I have already seeded something and so far nothing's happening. But I will post the whole process! Thanks for watching!

I don’t have any credibility haha. Look at me 🤣 But rest assured that this channel is a “fail-ew! Nope, sis“ free zone.
