I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

I love that you let your daughter do that. I am 28 now, and out of school. But when I was around 13, watching KZbin fashion and make up videos helped me decompress. It helped me also feel like I had more friends than I did, because the connection is still there. It’s awesome that you not only recognize she had a bad day, but let her binge watch videos knowing that would help. You’re a good momma.

@@stantwiceforclearskin3317 generalised anxiety, or "anxiety disorder" is feeling the way your friend feels about balls being thrown at her, but all the time. Hey Molly, glad you addressed your feelings about wastefulness, etc. One suggestion I do have is, maybe you could get some help from your mom or hire someone to set up a Poshmark for your older clothes and sell them even for a small amount just to ensure they do end up going to a new home? Unfortunately in many cases when clothes are donated (or even returned to stores) often they end up just being thrown out anyways if they are not purchased. Plus, I'm sure it would be fun for followers to buy something they knew used to be yours!!

I would think most clothes would break down pretty quickly in a landfill. The real culprits of filling up our landfills are big industry and big corporations. Even if every single individual recycled everything they used or bought, it would only account for 2% of total landfill size. In other words, while we are out here trying to use reusable straws and recycling our clothes, industry is shoveling literally tons of garbage into our landfills and hoping we don't notice. We can't solve the landfill issue at the consumer level, nor can consumers stop the air and water from being polluted. Big industry/corporations must be regulated at the government level or nothing will change. Vote democrat if you want big business to stop polluting our environment. It is the only way.

Ina, in the fashion world we say if you don't wear it in a solid year then donate it. This will create a vacuum that will refill the empty spot with stuff that will serve you better, will fit you better, and will make your heart sing so much louder, and you will actually have clothes you can wear. I have a sweatshirt from my Alma Mater and I keep that as a souvenir, well my daughter has been storing it for me. She loved wearing my FIDM sweatshirt in Highschool, because so many of her friends wanted to attend that school and it made her feel special that her mom had attended it. You are doing yourself a injustice by holding on to things that don't fit you and are just memories of what was. You will still have the memories, but you won't have the lead ball those old things are weighing you down with around your neck anymore. Not only that but think of all the room for new things you will have in your closet! Oh, and boyfriends and hubbies can't argue that you don't need that new item if your closet is mostly open. I can tell you there is something so freeing from living a minimalist lifestyle. Your whole life feels so much better without that OLD stuff hanging around your neck literally choking the life out of you. Trust me, I just moved 3000 miles with only the things that fit in the back of my VW Bug and my dog's stuff, but I had to buy him a new crate/bed when we got here. I also bought me a new bed and mattress when I got here. I still don't have a couch, and I am fine with that! The lack of stuff frees me to go and do stuff that I couldn't have thought about if I had a normal amount of stuff. In the next 6 months I am going to move into an RV full time and just travel, because I don't have all that weight of stuff I don't need! Let it go you will feel so much better when it is all gone! You won't miss it at all!

I feel this on such a deep level! Ive lost 70 lbs, and loosing the weight feels amazing. But getting rid of clothes that I loved was hard. And then trying to get a whole new wardrobe is a pain and super expensive! Ive thankfully found a lot at thrift stores and on sale. But im still loosing weight, have about 20ish more to go, so i can't even buy a lot bc i prob won't fit in the new clothes in 6 months. I hate feeling upset about it bc I lost the weight and so many people struggle with that part, but buying new clothes esp when you are on a budget is not easy!! But your going to make so many people happy by donating your clothes. ❤

It’s definitely emotional. I did this type of deep clean with everything I own when I moved out into my own home. I got rid of so many things. Some were so hard to let go of even in knowing I wasn’t going to use/need them. However when it was all done I felt so productive and freed.

I have to say, while donating is great, the ending kinda ruined it when you said stuff like "I need black sneakers now cause I got rid of my black sneakers". Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of decluttering and being more mindful about the environment etc.? Like you got rid of old stuff only to replace it with new stuff. Most of it will eventually end up in a landfill anyway. I dunno, just my two cents
@laurenperales4666

Well your two cents make complete sense and I totally agree with you.

Not really. If she got rid of her black sneakers cause they no longer fit or not something she liked anymore, she would need new ones. Same with the clothes. If she no longer fits in them, or maybe just not her style anymore, or too many similar things (like her three lavender sweaters) it makes sense to donate them. Especially if too big or too small. Might as well donate it and let someone get use of it and buy clothes that will fit. Usually people donate or get rid of clothes so they can make room for new stuff.
@terezzeret5826
@terezzeret5826 3 жыл бұрын
@@fidelianerina She would not necessarily "need" new ones. The whole video she talked about how much stuff she had and clearly she didn't get rid of everything so I'm sure she has other sneakers. Plus, you don't really change shoe sizes when you lose weight so she must have gotten rid of them just because she didn't like the style, which I don't know how much variation there is in black sneakers but whatever. And yes, it makes total sense to donate whatever doesn't fit anymore, I never disputed that so I'm not sure what your point is. It's up to her if she wants to get new stuff to replace the old obviously and I'm not here to judge her for that, it's just to me it came off a little tone deaf since she was trying to be so wholesome about it.

And I felt better for donating some to my friends before charity, as we were all poor phd students so they got new outfits for free and I felt like I’d less likely to die in a clothes avalanche.

I 100% appreciate your honesty. Because so many fashion youtubers or female youtubers in general will do clothing hauls and I’m SURE the return or donate a lot like you do, BUT THEY DONT DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION!!!! And so many young girls and young adults are expecting this completely not plausible expectation of the life of a youtuber or the life of a functional adult thinking that they will be able to do hauls just because. When that is not the reality. So, SUPER THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! We all needed that honesty.

It's been really hard to let go of expensive pieces that I didn't get much wear out of, but I've realized it's not healthy to hold on to clothes that just don't fit. I don't mind being a few sizes bigger until I see all of my too-small clothes. Thanks for normalizing this processes Molly :)

I did a big purge on my entire house Marie Kondo style last year. It actually was a catalyst for me changing my entire life style and starting a fitness routine. Now 1.5 years later, I've gone down 3 sizes and have to replace a lot of my wardrobe. I still have a lot more to lose, so I'm only buying the bare minimum at this point to get me through. I've joked that quarantine came at a good time, because at least I don't have to buy too many in between clothes. I'm glad Molly is thinking about waste reduction, I loved hearing she borrows some of her clothes for events these days!

I'm the worst shopper ever and never have enough basics and things that actually go together. Like how do you wear jeans with dresses? So I've been shopping basics after internets recommendations and I feel so happy with my new wardrobe of jeans that actually fit and simple, stylish tops that goes with them, all kinda color coordinated with no see trough flaws or hard to wear in any way because of visible brastraps and so on and it's sooooo nice and easy to dress now 😁 love your videos and style!
