That's the truth!! I switched over to sulfate free and two months ago. I just realized that my curls were really weighed down and not as voluminous. I used a sulfate shampoo just today, and BAM they were back to being big and nice looking again.

@@waq6 it still happens to me sometimes but not as much though. I really just stopped using so much product, I have a small afro so I really don't need that much product anyways, sometimes I just spray water and pick it out. Sorry I don't have an answer but I hope that helps.

SheaMoisture's original African Black Soap shampoo (the Deep Cleansing one) helps my hair & scalp when I have product build up.

This is very true. Thank you! If you really want to avoid sulfates you can try an apple cider vinegar rinse: about 2 tbsp / 4 cups water --- I add a few drops of lavender oil so I don't smell like a salad, haha. But , if it's not cutting it ... Might want to consider a shampoo with sulfates every once in a while ;)

Hi Nikki, I love your hair, gorgeous and looks very healthy. Question? I have gone natural but recently I noticed that I have a small breakage from my hair almost to the root. It is really short. Also, in the top middle part of my hair it seems to go really dry. Help? Any suggestions are really appreciated.

L holland try deep conditioning once a week & moisturize with a water based moisturizer every day while sealing in that moisture with an oil or butter. also protective styling and using a more moisturizing shampoo. That helped me out a lot

I don't think I've ever seen a tutorial on how to do an acv rinse. I literally just rinse it out after saturating my hair with it. don't know if that's right.

You should dilute it first because it will throw off your hairs ph balance itherwise

Use an application 8oz bottle and use the Braggs Apple Cider vinegar 4oz and distilled water or faucet water. I diluted my Kinky Curly Come Clean Shampoo (I use this as my clarifying shampoo) in a application bottle 1TBSP to 4oz of water. I apply it too my scalp/hair and work it in, rinse then use the acv rinse and work it in then a final rinse with water. Come Clean is all natural and no sulfate shampoo but leaves your hair squeaky clean!

Ashley Ploss Try maybe a clay mask? I love bentonite clay its detoxifying and great for your hair. Use it in place of your shampoo although I do warn for some it may be a little too stripping so have your conditioner ready!

Hey Nik, what shampoos would you suggest for those that are trying to stick to naturals products or shampoos that may have mild sulfates, but can still get the job done? :)

+shawnette marie I love the Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo, Kinky-Curly Come Clean Moisturizing Shampoo, and The SeaWeed Bath and Co Eucalyptus Mint is amazing. seaweedbathco.com/products/shampoo. I don't think any of these have sulfates in them. They do a great job of removing build-up.
