Getting rid of the Shaker 1000 head unit in my 07 GT500

My 2007 mustang had the same 3 plugs in the back of the factory stereo(the one you said you didn't know what it was)..my harness I bought for this car only hasv2 plugs and the antenna(leaving nothing to plug into that plug)...is it not needed?..does it get left out of new install?

I do not recall the context as this video is quite a few years old. My guess is the other plug is for something like satellite radio or more than likely a CD changer due to the times it was built Basically, if there is no provision for it on the aftermarket harness, there is no use for it.

This is years old, but my guess was it was for a cd changer or something . It was non applicable to a shaker 1000 system car for sure

@PMPerformance - Can you describe what you did with the cross-over settings you mention at like 14:35? I just put in a JVC head unit (I have the shaker 1000 as well) and it sounds worse than stock, very 'flat' as you mentioned.

I just changed the cutoff points to try and keep the lower frequencies out of the smaller speakers. It’s a playing game. I am not overly smart with crossover settings, like I get the concept but the slopes confuse me so I tinker until my ears like it. But basically I changed the crossover frequency and slopes on my unit.

@@anthonylaudano9751 I kept all the speakers and amps of the shaker 1000 and just replaced the head unit. The original head unit CD player broke awhile back.

At 14:42 you mentioned that you had to tweak it a little. What did you have to do? I attempted this install on my 07 GT500 this weekend. Got it all together...and it sounded muffled and horrible. I may have to go back to stock if I can't figure this out.

I do not recall. This was probably 5 years ago. Essentially it was just equalization settings if memory serves me in the head unit. You need a multiband EQ to get it fine tuned

I do not recall the contents of this video as this is quite old. I didn’t keep the oem radio long, but anything I talked about was radio tuning.

I recently tried installing a radio in my 06 Gt, connections were right but there was no power to the radio. On top of that I couldn’t catch my power to my windows and convertible top either, any advice you have that may help??

There is no relation to your radio and your top and windows unless they run off the same fuse. Check your fuse first and if not, two yellow and red to switches 12v

Nice shelby man. And your video helped me figure out my wiring issue. Btw its easy to wire in a toggle bypass the ebrake so you can have the video playing when ever.

I'm trying to install my new radio with my Shaker 1000 system and for some reason cannot get my rear subs to work with that small connector that has two blue and white wires. I looked on some forums and most people said to only use one but I tried both initially and then went to one and still didn't see a difference. Some people also said that I would loose my rear subs due to the rca cable only being setup for the doors but that's obviously not true because I've seen you and a few others do it without losing them. I'm sorry for asking so many questions but my main question is How did you wire your small connector with the two blue and white wires to get your subs working?

I did exactly as shown in the video. I used both remote turn on wires. The amps are split with the RCA’s I believe and piggy backed basically which is why it works with a single RCA.

Went to replace the stereo in my 2007 gt500 and found out that the stereo has info that the car needs. My airbag light went off and don't know what else functions off the original stereo. Have you had any problems or lost any functions since replacing the stereo? I was told you also need to install a maestro datalink to keep all functions? Or was this just due to the console buttons not being plugged up? I replaced the original stereo and re-plugged up the console buttons and the airbag light went off.

Absolutely not. If you are having other issues, you disconnected something else and did not reconnect it. You 1000% do not need a maestro. I made this video to prove that falicy wrong

I have almost the exact same setup. 05 GT with the shaker 1000. I got everything hooked up and working but when I play music at higher volumes my speakers crackle in conjunction with the bass. Do you have any ideas on what the problem could be?

The speakers may be blown. Pretty sure these are paper cone speakers so they are not that robust.

I was just wondering now that nearly a year has gone by since your install of this head unit, do you have any pros and cons for the head unit that you could share? Also what’s the model number for this head unit?

I’ve had this head unit for many years. No real issues with it. Only annoyances are no buttons and all touch screeen. When you are trying to flip through things and hit bumps it’s tougher, but everything is like this now adays anyway. I show the box and part number multiple times in the video. It’s an sphda120
