My grandparents lived in the high Sierras between Shaver Lake and the town of Big Creek. I spent every summer there during my childhood. There’s a place that the locals call “the pot holes” we spent almost every day at that looks a lot like the area you visited. The water has created flowed over granite rocks over thousands of years, creating small and large pools of water. You can slide down the wet granite and also jump from tall rocks into the larger pools. The water was ice cold, and we would lay on the hot granite to warm the body back up. Great memories.

1st, love your videos. 2nd, you’re holding that spinning reel upside down. Works better if you turn it over, hold the line with your forefinger, open the bail and cast letting the line slide off of your finger. Be sure to close the bail afterwards with a small turn of the reel. Takes a little practice to get it right, but you’ll have a better time fishing with a spinning reel when you do. Happy fishing!

Trout are not necessarily an easy fish to catch, especially in a lake. Once you figure it out you'll be catching more of them than you need. I suggest you ditch the float and try using a quarter-ounce egg sinker with a swivel between it and 18" of line with the hook on the end ( better known as a Carolina rig). Finally, if you can get your hands on an insulin syringe, use it to inject some air into the worm. This will cause it to float off the bottom and is really effective. Although trout are sight feeders they have a highly developed sense of smell. Their ability to detect food is measured in the billions of parts per million. The worm doesn't need to be moving for them to find it. and finally, you make that swimsuit look amazing!

It is sad what is happening to us. On another note, try to assess the depth of the lake under your bobber, and adjust the float depth so that your worm is about a foot from the bottom. By and large the fish are usually cruising the bottom of the lake looking for bugs and stuff, and are only near the top when there’s a hatch happening. And leave your bobber in place rather than winding it in all the time. The fish can be lead by smell to the worm but if you keep moving it they won’t find it. Only check it every 15-20 minutes to see if the worm wriggled off. Most importantly, try to be distracted as often as possible. The bobber never goes down while you’re watching it. You have to be tying your shoe or popping a can of soda and then look up to notice that your bobber isn’t there anymore…:)

This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and I am very impressed. A little tip about fishing; if the water is as clear as what I saw in front of you, don’t bother wetting a line. I am writing a book about health as well. It is based on science but totally different from the norm. My biggest hurdle is to try and convince the reader that, “nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong.” The title, as of now, is “Are You Living or Just Waiting to Die.” Most of the pieces of the book have been written in my head for some time. I know little about natural remedies and would like to know a lot more. They are included in my book along with diet. Nutrition is important but there are some huge mistakes many people make with supplements and big Pharma. I will say it all has to do with money and or vanity! I wanted to let you know that you have a head start on my first book. You are definitely not waiting to die! Thanks for the video, Mr. E
