And I thought I am going insane with trying to build my first AR....I had a fusion of this colored scheme badass AR....... I am head over heels in this idea..... with wanting my own built AR and say I did it!! everything costs so much, and so many brands of parts that I don't know anything about, having so little money on items to buy... this is going to take me 20 yrs to build...Haha I will be dead by then... Man I really appreciate the content. This is really the only 8.6 content I can find other than a handful of “reviews”. If been interested in building a 300 and for sure an 8.6 now thanks to your content. Sometimes waiting for your next video for 8.6 is like waiting for AK50 updates 😂. All SLR? The channel must be treating you well, brother. AR10s are indeed a mess. Built an 8.6 BLK pistol after watching your vids. Faxon barrel (12") and handguard and AP receivers, with a Ballistic Advantage BCG. I've yet to try it out, though. Hoping this cartridge takes off. As for advice, buy the SLR lower and have one of the nicest looking 8.6 BLK pistols in existence.

I debated between the 12" and the 8" barrels. Went with 12", but may do an 8" later in 8.6 caliber. Regarding barrel lenght and performance, Gorilla Ammunition shows subsonic loadings that are good for either 12" or 8", so lenght isn't a huge deal.

Have you considered putting on a good Blast forwarder?? Good for the shooter and great for the guys next to you. :)

I pretty much exclusively shoot suppressed these days. Even the super sonics. A linear comp is good at pushing your blast away but many people scrutinize the effects on accuracy.

Keep in mind that Q's proper specs for 8.6 subsonic loadings are tested for a 12 inch barrel. Shorter you're not getting optimal burn and longer, like 16 inch, the powder is fully burned before the bullet leaves the barrel and your velocity drops. Loading at home can solve that for you but if you're using proper specs for subsonic according to Q, you won't be getting best performance from a barrel either too long or short.

Just finished a 8.6 16’ unsuppressed super build. 40 rounds through it and had 2 fail to eject/double feed. Any advice? More gas? Build is Faxon bolt and barrel. Aero everything else.

hmm, if you load one and get a bolt hold open every time AND you are flicking brass out to 3-4 oclock. gas should be good. are you using pmags? I had trouble with lancer

@@pewpewjunky1296 thank you sir hopefully that fixes your problem. A couple of my 86 buddies have also had trouble with Lancer. It’s a bummer cause they’re a nice mag and kind of expensive.

Question about barrel swapping on an ar10, i have both armalite and dpms ar10, will the barrel swap work for either one?

Made an 8.6 upper for my ar-10 and I cant seem to get it to cycle properly its always a failure to eject even with the adjustable gas block on every setting im starting to think its the buffer any thoughts?

if you load one, are you getting bolt hold open? after that I would look at your buffer weight and make sure your gas port holes are lined up and clear.

@@EagleRun23no the bolts not held open it’ll just pinch the shell or eject it but not go far enough back to feed the second one. I know the gas ports lined up properly but what buffer weight do you use?

I really like the armaspec captured setup from AT3 but it sounds like your is most like the standard 308 buffer and spring with the h2. if you arent getting hold open, you need more gas, hope your gas block is adjustable? is this a faxon barrel?

yes its a faxon barrel and i have an aero adjustable gas block with a standard 308 buffer but even with the gas block all the way open it wont cycle properly@@EagleRun23

I’ve had barrels that came under gassed, if you already have an adjustable gas block, then I’d say just grab the next size up drill bit and open up that gas port.
