Run a little positive camber at ride height. When the car squats in the launch the suspension compresses and camber moves to 0* giving you a full contact patch

No prep is the new thing . I have been doing it for a while now and it’s finally taking off I’m so so happy
@FullThrottleRC5 жыл бұрын
Just a suggestion. You probably want to lower the wheelie bar. I started with mine around that height and although the wheelies look cool, they hurt performance and make the car harder to control. I don't know if I consider myself a pro but I think I have a good handle on my car based off of the Associated B5M so if you have any questions I'd be happy to help!! 👍

I’m in the process of building a slash NPRC. Well, more like collecting parts at the moment. I picked up the lcg chassis and a mamba X sensored combo with the 7700kv motor. Still need some reliable driveshafts.

Nitro tubing on shaft of front shocks at point where car naturally settles with all components in place. Shims on top of rear shocks, and given or taken away for preload, depending on which side it tries to pull to. Adjust the opposite side of pull with more preload. Lastly, tweak the wheely bar n opposite side of pull. Weigh car load n all four corners, and balance as close to 30/70 as possible. Depending on power source, you may need to add some lead weight in front of bumper, specifically when running to power in the 4000kv range. Seems counterintuitive, but the tp will lift front tires completely off ground, and steering goes bye bye. Hope it helps, love the enthusiasm.

Oooh, that video is very old and I don’t even own a drag car any longer! But, these tips will probably be helpful for people getting into the hobby, I’ll pin the first one to the top. Thank you!

@@scalebuildersguild just got into a couple years ago, and went to first event yesterday. Guys were nice, one was very helpful. KZbin has been mostly a miss, either I don’t run what they are showing, or generalized info without specifics. I’ve run 2.6’s on dry tire, no prep, and ran 2.8s yesterday on a completely sticky track. Launch was an issue both ways. Gear high for less torque and drive, or get stuck and cog with same gearing on sticky. Ramping up power in first stage to try and get riolling, and will change gears once I see if that gives me anything. My class was running 2.3, and I’m not there yet.

I'm in the process of building one too. Well, hopefully 2 so my son and I can race! I started with an SC5M base. I wanted to try a mid motor design to help keep the front wheels down. I see all these videos where usually the winner is the one that doesn't crash. For the body I'm going with the Delta Plastik IROC-Z to match my 85 IROC.

Lock up diff. I played with open diff car will not dive straight on hard launching. Takes some practice to get them to drive straight with a locked diff. You might need to lower wheelie bar. Having nose up too high is bad. Looks hella cool love the Nova!

Drag cars are harder then people think. Keeping it straight and off it's lid for a 132ft is quite an engineering exercise. These are really a builders car. There are kits out there, really good ones. But it comes down to the person building having some serious technical chops. When do we start seeing scale drag cars?

You need to move to a newer b6 chassis where you have a mid mounted laydown, layback, or standup mid motor chassis. You can make this but better for not much. Buy a used 6.1 team associated. This allows the setups to be in front of the rear axles. Lowering center of gravity while also giving the car more forward and balance center of gravity. This also allows for more tuning options as well as controll from better distribution of weight in drivetrain.

A sensored ESC might be advantageous for a drag application - They handle acceleration from stall quite a bit better.
@TheFlynryn5 жыл бұрын
You get past the cogging effect so fast you don't notice. You never run at slow speed. But I get what your saying. The do run smoothly off stall. Just not needed for drag racing.
@sadlert5 жыл бұрын
TheFlynryn I see. It has been quite a few years since I’ve been in the hobby, I imagine everything sensored and not is much improved. I had a sensored and non-sensored setup in a touring car about 4 years ago. Often the sensorless would stall from a static start - lots of noise but no motion. This never happened with the sensored setup. Also the sensored setup was a dream to control, very predictable and smooth, the sensorless was a bit of a beast. In any case, you’re going to have plenty of fun working it all out. Enjoy!
