out of the box it doesn't show the schema browser, so why do you go into that first? start where the app starts. then switch to schema browser. I'm a SQL Server guy, and find that Oracle /toad is very busy and confusing. when I select the schema browser it looks nothing like your screen. I have 12.1.1

Hi Dennis Thanks for your comments. You make a great point about Toad opening the Editor window out-of-the-box. I used to start my training sessions with how to change the window behaviour, so for those that don't know, go to View | Toad Options, select Windows (last in the list) and scroll down until you see the "Schema Browser" window. Select the "Auto Open" check mark to have Toad open with the Schema Browser by default. We've had some debate over the years as to whether this should be the default anyway, but since more developers use Toad than anyone else, they generally prefer to have the Editor open first since that's pretty much all they use. Actually, you have both windows if you wanted to. Make sure you use coloured connections (Connections Window) so you can tell them apart better. Also, don't forget you can customize menus and toolbars (right click the toolbar) and you can simplify your Schema Browser to only display the tabs you need (right click tabbed region). One final point - if in doubt - right click! Thanks, John

09:00 omg, but how you get this columns from multi-select into editor?..... Except from that, this tutorial is very great. Edit: Ok, you either drag them with your mouse, or press shift+first and last column from the scope you want to choose, but the last column you click two times. Also when you take only few of them with ctrl, you press last time two times.

I appreciate using a native English speaker. Most of the Oracle guides and tutorials that I've seen are done by Indians and their accent is so thick that it is difficult to follow most tutorials.
