So many people have interviewed Stacy Sims and they always asked the same questions. Here Gabriel does THE best job of asking new and thoughtful questions while also describing where she is coming from. This is my favorite interview with Stacy. Since I am almost 61, I feel like they are talking about my situation whereas so many other interviews have been trying to cover too much. Thank you Gabby for your insightful questions!

Totally agree. Big podcasters may attract the eyeballs but some conversations are better than others. This one was top top. Women talking to help women.

I'm 55, have been into health since my late 20's. This past year, got up the gumption and joined a gym with serious weight lifting equipment - I am now lifting heavy, surrounded by dudes in their 20's and 30's. It was intimidating to start - but so happy I did. I only train abut 2-3 days a week, when I am fully recovered after a hard workout.

This is so smart...I'm a 49yo man who joined a gym for the first time ever about 11-months ago, with the main goal of muscle/strength addition. I've put on something like 18lbs (what, like I'm not gonna brag on the interwebs??) & it's of course made a huge positive difference all throughout my life, but what most folks don't understand is that it's my wife who would experience significantly more relative benefit from weight/resistance training than me, because women have so much more distance to make up in areas like muscle mass, strength, bone density, & ligament/tendon size & strength. The problem is that we tend to celebrate & expect men to get strong, but there's actually a stigma associated with muscle & women. So many women are afraid to weight train because they think they'll magically put on too much muscle & lose their femininity, not realizing that the examples they're seeing are all enhanced women, & absent PEDs, weight training does nothing but emphasize femininity for women. We need to somehow get the word out that women, even more than men, need to weight train.

Learning how to train through pain and injury while simultaneously rehabbing from injury has been one of the most important lessons I’ve had. It allowed me to continue cycling while successfully healing from a double case of patellar tendinitis. I also learned what I did that led to the injury in the first place, and it made me more cognizant of what to do and not do going forward. Discomfort and pain have been constant companions on some level since I was young, and now at 47, the mental resilience to those things has become even more important.

Two of my favourite women! I have been an athlete all my life, now turning 50 and navigating the changes in training, and most importantly mindset 😉 I loved the interview, I can relate to Gabrielle so much, excellent questions, great conversation. Thank you very much to both of you, and everyone who makes it possible!❤

As a 76 year old woman who works out regularly it’s very helpful to learn what’s best for my body. Thank you both for your work, information, and this conversation😊. I enjoy a good variety of sport activities: road and trail cycling, hiking, golf, kayaking, skiing and snowshoeing. As I’ve aged, I’ve had to be more conscious of nutrition and strength training so I can continue the sports I love. But, I now have time for that as I don’t have career and family commitments. It truly is a wonderful life stage if we have good health! I remember being very worried about aging when I was your age - actually more worried than I am now. Perhaps it’s because I have more control over my time and choices now, and much less stress. I appreciate every day and I’m very grateful to be healthy and active!

Wonderful conversation ladies! 💪🌟 Thank you! When it comes to “heavy” periods and skin issues- it’s empowering to find root cause, most likely a hormonal imbalance involving a downstream/upstream issue (gut imbalance, metabolic dysfunction, toxin exposures, etc). Being our own health detective is so important. Much love to you both ❤❤

Hi Gabby!! What stood out is what's happening right now in my life. How stress impacts my body and causes my body to crave carbs. The advice of bringing things back down, increasing protein and having a variety of plants is what I'm implementing. I love the recommendations for pre workout too because I usually workout fasted. Your yogurt option was a great idea too, get it in quickly without all the fuss. I know there is a lot more from this conversation but in summary, it's preparing me for 53 and beyond, to develop habits to be strong and resilient as I age. ❤

I’m the one getting up at 5am to get my gym sessions in. Doing this for 25 years now- I just turned 50 and for the last 2 years I am getting very very shredded, not gaining more muscle. I have always been very slim and muscular, but now it is just way too slim. I see now that fasted workouts don’t work the same way as they did before and I might need to change the diet.
@GabbyReece2 ай бұрын
That's really interesting, thanks for sharing your personal experience. It's amazing how our bodies adapt to things like fasted workouts when we're in our twenties and thirties versus our fifties.

Dr Felish Gersh is a world renown hormone expert. This probably going to be a long reply. 16:01 I’ve always felt like I need to constantly train (weights) and when I’m not happy about how I look then I need to train more, I need to let myself recover. 24:01 I’ve always trained fasted, I got away with it in my 20s, 30s and 40s though I now believe I’ve missed out on some results I could have gained. So I’m going to try the advice on the pre and post training fueling. 1:00:04 To make sure I get the timings on the sprint training (I’m searching through KZbin for for advice from you guys) I’m a shift worker so sleep pattern is awful so I’m going to see what advice I can find on any previous chats you’ve done. Thanks again, it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one struggling to get where I want to be

Do we need to eat within 30 min of waking up being awakened by alarm clock if we dont train jn the morning?

I would say so. Eating within 30 min of naturally waking or the alarm clock is good in general for cortisol rise we get in the morning.

Right out the gate: she thinks about WALL·E and how we moderns have lost the practice of movement, of living and being moving creatures who do things that our ancestors passed to us. But the next minute it’s “how archaic are gender norms” and asking what it means to be a woman in today’s world…as if social norms from previous generations were flippant and useless. The people in our history were not stupid. There’s a reason for teaching boys to pursue and teaching girls to be patient. School uniforms serve a purpose. We get our history from movies, so now anything with a gender rule or norm is “oppressive,” yet we can’t figure out why we lost our sense of purpose as embodied souls on this planet. I have immense respect for Dr. Sims, but I think modern women (and men) have blind spots that we are unwilling to examine when it comes to arrogance about past social constructs.
