I would use the bathroom for a closet. Put some selves up for food storage. I would also get one of those plastic 25gal ATV sprayers and set on the floor in the closet. They come with a 12volt pump on them. Hook it up to a house battery. Those sprayers have a 5/16 or 3/8 hose. You can make one any length you need. Run the hose under the floor up to your sink. You can put a kitchen sprayer on the end for cleaning dishes or just use it to clean up. I used one of those sprayers in a camper van I built. Best idea I had. The pump only runs when you pull the trigger. No wasting water. A small solar panel will keep the battery charged easy. If you plan to do the Ohio trip on the Barge you can also use the closet to store batteries and I know you have a big solar panel. Put a door or curtain on the closet and it will look great. I’m very impressed with the Barge. I think you found the perfect shanty boat. That boat would be great for exploring the Backwaters along the great loop. With a nice 50-60hp four stroke and a 9.9 kicker for emergency. It seems to be built like a tank. That’s a true go anywhere boat because you don’t have to worry about hitting stuff. You can nose right up to a beach and not have to get your dinghy off the roof. My opinion would be to keep the closet for storage. Or turn it into a true shower stall if you plan to travel the river system on her. You may find a lady friend in a river town that needs a shower...lol Very cool boat and a Great find.

I have found it strange that a lot of people cringe at the thought of using a porta potti camping or even on a boat. I have had quite a few through the years for both purposes and its no big deal and pretty convenient. Peeing over the side or in a jug can be the norm but there are times when others are around its nice to have a little privacy. My thoughts I would work a space in the plans just for that special lady and those few times it would be nice and convenient to get to at a moments notice. lol.

Hopefully u have enough wood for the walls if u gut it gutted , since the wood prices are crazy, the older I get the more I say piss on it, use it the way it is, but if u want to change it, I like a bed that folds up against the wall, u could keep the bathroom for storage and pinch off in a bucket, just make sure u build a place for a removable hammock. Those C-Dory 16's (Angler and Cruiser models) are highly coveted by boaters. When you see one come up for sale, they are quickly bought. Regards to the bathroom, my vote is to keep it. Improve upon what you have within the compartment (self composting potty?), sink and other civilized niceties. It's guaranteed the moment you rip it all out, here comes Ms Right and the first question she's gonna ask is, where is the bathroom? :)

I've always loved the C-dory lines, the 22 cruiser might be the perfect looking boat. They are a rough ride, but extremely efficient. I've probably had 6 Cdorys over the years, CD22 cruisers, CD22 anglers, this is my 2nd 16 angler. They sell in like 3 hours online, I was extremely lucky to catch this one a couple hours away for the price of that blessed Honda. Other than being small, they are capable of more/less anything. I'll take it the 80 miles across to Isle Royale without worry. Thanks for the thoughts on the barge.

@@backwatersandbackroads You're welcome. The writer William Least Heat-Moon took his C-Dory 22 on a coast to coast trip of the inland US waterways, starting in New York City and ending on the Columbia River bar. On some short sections here or there, he had to use his canoe, but the rest was under the C-Dory. The book is called River Horse and it belongs on every long distance boat as a thing to sit back and read on those days in port when it's too nasty to be underway. You may have seen him in the Ken Burns Lewis & Clark documentary. The actual C-Dory, called Nikawa, was donated to Boone, MO and sits there today as a static display.

So I don't have any advice about the bathroom situation, other than that you might have to time travel and find a woman who is completely unaware that toilets exist. Or maybe she could wear travel diapers like an astronaut or like people driving through Nevada. As far as catching the Coho, maybe try identifying as a bear because they're pretty good at catching fish. (You could wear a bear costume, which would make you an actual bear).
