Getting the most from the Rogue Belt Squat with Silent Mike | Third Street Barbell

When we were choosing equipment for Third Street Barbell, we knew we wanted a belt squat and we were sure that the Rogue Rhino was the one we wanted. We've used all of them, and this one has always been our favorite. Why? We liked the relative accuracy of loading, the position of the safety handles, and the lifting stance on the platform.
We produced this video with Third Street Barbell members in mind, but anyone new to using a belt squat can benefit from watching.

Can confirm, RDLs on the Rhino belt squat feel amazing.

With a bit of band tension, they get into the glutes waayyyy more than traditional RDLs.

Hey! It's better to load the belt lower around your hips. If you are using the belt squat to reduce loading on the spine wearing the belt around your lower back can be counter-productive because of the shear forces.

it looks like if you push your hips back you don't have a vertical cable anymore, looks like its pulling you at an angle. Some people had mentioned to me that it puts knee sheering no matter where you stand:( I have a bad knee and this is what's preventing me from getting rhino and the loading on vertical pin is preventing me from getting squat max. I guess nothing its perfect. lol. don't know which one to get yet

I have lumbar fusion . Does this create a traction problem? Obviously if you’re spine is fused you don’t want that

We are not in a position to answer that question really. It would likely depend a lot on the weight you're using and the placement of the belt. You might want to check with a physical therapist who actually lifts and understands belt squats. .
