In this video I train with Silent Mike at Untamed Strength Gym in Sacramento CA. We squat and bench press. I explain what my training has looked like since working with Starting Strength coach, Austin Baraki, and the "secret" to how I've increased my bench press.

I got a lot out of this Alan. For someone who really just started out going to the gym and doing whatever I wanted without much structure, learning how frequency, volume, and intensity can be optimally used to increase my strength is exactly what I need. I also enjoyed the "Day in the life of Alan" video as well. Thanks!

I live in AZ, where the summers can get to the 115+ degrees. I wear a hoodie in the gym. The reasoning is that with a very long work week and already long lifting sessions from powerlifting (depending on programming), I honestly don't have as much time to hit cardio as much as I'd like. Once a week I go for a 2-3 mile run if I have the time but I can't fit in any more than that. So I pretty much just wear the hoodie to sweat balls and keep off water weight as much as possible. My woman always says that right after the gym if she touches my bare skin it feels like lava lol

Hey Alan. I've been following your page on here for about 3 years now. I actually found your page while researching bulking diets. As of late I've found myself slightly more disinterested in your channel. Sorry! However, the video today was awesome. A note on the RPE explanation. The reps in reserve translation works for sets of 8-10 but RPE 8 with singles should not really mean 2 reps in reserve, RPE 8,9,10 could all have you with 0-1 reps left. When you get near maximum on such low reps, you may not have additional reps in you despite being able to do more weight. Example I can Deadlifts 230kg at RPE10 but 225 might be an RPE 9 but I can still only do 1 rep.

I like the Mike, Alan combo. I feel like these two guys are sincere and down to earth people who I don't have to add a grain of salt to earthing said by them. I just get straightforward advice. They're main goal is to make others a better versions of themselves, and I hope this relationship lasts a while. I thought Mark's money was getting to his head anyways, and it's good to see Mike is a strong enough person to walk from that. edit: RTS is magic for gains Alan. Mike Tuscherer is a wizard. also. have Terrence Kennedy on the show!!!

Even you're programme sounds RTS based, we had Mike T over for a seminar last year and it hanged my lifting forever. Being able to construct my own programmes and understand rpe, like you said, it really helps you take advantage of "good days" and when there bad days come it's always valuable to have, I look back on my training logs and even my bad days are still getting better and better, thus like you said, raises you peak
