I don't think I will be able to forgive....a roller coaster ending with train crash, post mortem is a struggle and cleaning will be slow.

20 years ago, I abandoned the most extreme narcissist I have known. The others are nothing compared to her. She's a wreck now, going in and out of rehab clinics, going nowhere. I know she's finished, but I still check her Instagram account, like a moron. There's nothing to see, but I can't stop thinking about this human disaster. Narcissists really crawl deep inside your brain. Thinking about them becomes this compulsive thing.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there. They generally are on the road to nowhere I think, and they will take anyone down with them if we allow them to. You’re right when you say they get inside your brain. I feel the same - I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking about the narc who was in my life. I worry about her - the way she cuts people off, sabotages everything, spends money recklessly, and uses people. In the time I knew her, I really think I was providing the emotional regulation and validation that she couldn’t generate within herself. I was keeping her stable, but she took that, as well as my money, to make it work with someone else, so I ended up with nothing. Maybe one day she’ll try to fix things and I really hope so, but I can see a very bleak future ahead for her.

Wrote down something. Recorded myself mostly. It makes no difference. I get it rationally but not emotionally. I fight my body to get out.
