Getting The Sound From Your DAW To Your X32 Mixer

Yes, absolutely. I have never done it with the Dante or ADAT Card but I do know that the rest of the cards work just fine.

Do you have to have the X-Live card for this or can you do this with the X-USB card?

This works with the USB Card as well. The Dante Card and the ADAT Card use a different setup AFAIK.

I have the X32 Rack. Can you record multi-track live while performing? I can not find any tutorials on setting this up, if it's possible. I thought I had everything set to preform while recording into my DAW, but when we did soundcheck, I had no FOH. I had to do a factory reset to get up and running again to perform (and lost all my scenes).

Absolutely. It is called a virtual sound check. If you have your DAW setup correctly, all you need to do is go into the routing section of the rack r X32 Edit, and change your input routing to your card. Once you hit play on your DAW, everything should play back through the rack. If you want to get a deeper understanding of the X32 Rack, I have recently started one on one training through Zoom. Thanks for this! Is there any way to get the sound out without it going back through the mixer? Like creating two output channels just to the mains.

Hey Greg, I am not sure I understand your question. The USB port is independent from the main outputs on the rack. You can run many main outputs using buses and matrices. If you are asking can you run the mains from your computer, I am sure you can, although I would not recommend it. If you are interested in one on one training, please visit danatucker.com/

Is there another way to do this without the x32 edit app? We've been doing it with the x32 and Reaper, we've been able to play back recordings while having to switch between card and local. Last week, everything changed and now we are now unable to play anything back. This was actually set up before I joined the band, so I wasn't privy to how they set it up. Also, they were using the DCA's to control the faders in reaper, which was very cool, and that doesn't work anymore either... No one else has a clue on how to fix this so I've been searching for answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

Good morning. I use X32 Edit because I use their Rack. You can do this straight from the unit itself. My first thought is, has anyone updated your firmware recently? If so, you will have to do a little tweaking. I run the latest version for my X32 Rack and have the record/playback set to automatic. I don't do much with midi but there are many members in my FB group that does. @@DanaTucker1 Thanks for the reply! I upgraded the firmware to 4.0 when it 1st came out, I think it's up to 4.03 right now... I'll have to update to that soon. What kind of tweaking are you talking about? Where is the record/playback setting located? I only use midi at my home studio so that's not an issue right now, I'm more concerned about recording and playback in the band room. Thanks again for your help!

That would be in the X32 Edit software. You can do it from the rack controls as well, but you really need to learn how to use the software.
