Getting to Know George Wang, Publisher of The Rake China and Founder of Brio

A longtime friend of The Armoury, George Brio, stopped in the shop a few months ago to have a chat with us about his work so far and his exciting new project: The Rake China. George is a pioneer of classic style in China, having founded his brand: Brio nearly ten years ago. He is a pillar of classic style in the region with a fascinating view on menswear.

I like going out for a walk on the beach. It clears my mind, and it's refreshing to observe a much more open environment than the sculpture studio or the apartment I live in. I think for most people walks or cycling in nature is refreshing and beneficial.

What a great guy. I've lived in NYC for many years and have been a customer at The Armoury stores in NYC. I've recently moved to Beijing (my hometown) for family reasons. Will definitely check out the Brio store in the near future.

Just after a few minutes in the video i can see George is an intelligent and well-spoken person. No need to stay in the background…..(like he said) I am not in this industry but what I do not understand is why bespoke if you want to present your own vision? Isn’t made to measure a better option? Or is this just an business/financial thing.
