I bought a new Chieftain Darkhorse in 2020 and your comment about not needing to speed now is spot on. It's the most glorious bike I've ever ridden and I still pinch myself that it belongs to me. Great idea to just have the engine noise and the awesome road you were on, well done.

Had a 2018, very much concur with how relaxing and satisfying this bike is. Rode it all over Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan and Ohio. The features, sound and surprisingly “nimble” handling were mind blowing. Just picked up a Pursuit… can’t wait for the season to start and explore its limits as well. Great video!

:-) DlzG TecTurtle3 PS: jajaja, 15:31... Cruisen. ;-P

I can relate. Sometimes riding a less capable bike at normal speeds is more satisfying than riding a fast bike at a reasonably quick pace. I also felt this kind of satisfaction when I drove an old VW T4 van : it's slow and quirky as fuck but it's tricky enough that it gives a great driving experience involving your skills 😊

I am hoping to have the same experience you described when I buy a bagger. You were very open minded to something new and a bike that is the opposite of what you’re used to riding. I am torn between Indian and HD currently, but have time to decide. Slowing down and enjoying either is something I look forward to, but there is a compromise for us sport bike riders: the new Indian Challenger. I did a test ride and it is more performance oriented with a far more powerful higher revving liquid cooled engine, inverted fork, and radial Brembo calipers. It was possibly the perfect balance of sport and cruise and could be the solution to my fear of the standard Indian and Harley baggers being too mellow. Cheers!

Which riding mode were you using? On both the Chieftain and the Challenger the modes make a big difference in throttle response. Tour and Normal are surprisingly good for this kind of riding, whereas Sport only seems to make sense on the Challenger.

Servus Schaaf! 💪😎
