Thanks for a detailed explanation of getting to Morocco. I guess chaotic is normal. It looks exciting and very tempting. I am repeatedly told to live life whilst we have it so Morocco has to be on the list. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures. All the best.

Hi Peter, always appreciate your feedback and apologies for this very delayed reply. Yeah chaos is the norm but to be fair it's actually got better and the roads are improving year on year. Of all the countries you could visit I'd highly recommend Morocco, so many people we've met have regretted not coming sooner. Thank you, Phil & Izzy 👍😀

Hi guys, thanks for the informative video. Do you think we'd be OK with a clear photo of our V5 etc? Unfortunately we're already in Portugal and due in Morocco beginning of September! 😬
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Hi there I don't think you would - they take the V5 away to process as part of temporarily importing the vehicle. The procedures seem quite tight - they picked up that our V5 was missing a digit in the VIN (we knew about it but hadn't been in the UK to change it), but luckily we have a VOSA plate in the truck with the correct number - but they were defo very suspicious. Could you get it posted to CTT Poste Restante in Portugal, or to a campsite?
@eddiexblue Жыл бұрын
Have watched all your videos - excellent stuff! Morocco is on our list as well and this vlog is very helpful with regard to planning and costs involved. The Azerbaijan video was also great - a place I hadn't considered before. Quick question - Having been in Baku you very quickly were back in Europe? Did you go back to the UK and then restart your adventures through Spain and onto Morocco? I guess you didn't do videos in-between? Just curious really! Keep up the good work and safe travels to you both.
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Hi thank you and very observational 😀. Our plan last year was always to drive to Baku and explore Azerbaijan by truck but as you probably got from the videos, the land border was closed (and still is). We flew to Baku from Budapest (truck in secure storage) and after two weeks in Az returned to the truck to drive back to the UK through Germany & the NL. It wasn’t a terribly exciting drive and then six weeks in the GB/Ireland over Christmas seeing friends & family and an editing holiday. So yep, we picked it up again in Spain & will keep it going, I'm kinda hoping the numbers will pick up this year, we’ll see. Appreciate the support 🙏😀

@@TheGapDecaders Thanks for the reply - we love what you are doing. You are both an entertaining watch and a great resource for other wannabe travellers. You have a good mixture of holiday stuff that you do and also good hard facts about the countries you are visiting. Also, the information about the truck and its pros and cons is really good. Safe travels!

You've made my mind up and I will definitely go to Morocco, thanks, it wasn't clear though, for me, if you could use it to escape the schengen 90 day rule. So could I spend approx 90 days in Spain then go to Morocco for approx 90 days?
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Hi glad to have helped :) Morocco is not a Schengen country so makes a great escape option. Be aware that if you leave Spain on your 90th day it will count as a day in both Spain and Morocco. So you’d then be in a pickle because you’d need to leave Morocco on the 90th day but would be a day short in the Schengen 90 days in a rolling 180 days. Leave yourself at least 5 days fudge factor just in case :)

Thanks for the video. I’m heading to morocco in jun. I’m really worried about that. Where exactly I get the insurance? Or a website?
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Hi Felipe, it's really easy to get insurance on entry into Morocco, minute 18:56 on the video you'll see little cabins (beside the cashpoints) before you exit the port compound. All you need is your original vehicle registration document and driving licence/passport and pay by cash. Certainly nothing toworry over, hope that helps 👍🏻😀

Hi guys, just a quick question. I know you have drone, did you bring it with you to Morocco too?
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
Hi, as you're probably aware drones are not allowed in Morocco and therefore we didn’t take it for fear of it being confiscated. You'll be asked specifically before being scanned, if you have a drone, I know some people risk it by keeping it in a small daysack when they step out of the vehicle but that's your call. Good luck 😀
@2028rtn Жыл бұрын
So you leave the drone behind, I presume you can collect this on your way back to Europe?
@TheGapDecaders Жыл бұрын
@@2028rtn we left ours with some friends in Spain. If you declare it at the port it will be confiscated and I wouldn’t be confident it would be waiting for you to collect as you leave.

Can you help? Where do i get insurance for my vehicle? For Morocco?
@TheGapDecaders11 ай бұрын
Hi James The only insurance company in the UK who may offer cover for Morocco are Saga and LV, but you would need a full policy with them first. They also may only offer 3rd party. Otherwise, you can buy £rd party at the port on arrival, but there is no option for fully comprehensive for vehicles being temporarily imported.

Hi Kevin, No, you can enjoy the country for 90 days, thereafter you need to submit a request to remain longer through a police station (approximately two weeks prior).
