I've noticed a few people are saying I can use certain methods to re-roll hard drives, but as stated in the first episode of the series, this goes against the rules. I probably should have reiterated this at the start of this episode, but in any case here are the rules for a swamp only run: • Cannot leave the swamp biome, according to the biome map. • Can enter/exit caves from within the swamp, even if the cave extends beyond the swamp biome, as long as you do not exit the cave into another biome. • Cannot use advanced game settings. • Creature hostility must be left at default setting. • Arachnophobia mode is not allowed. • Cannot load a previous save unless the current save is corrupt. • Cannot use any method to re-roll hard drives to obtain desired alternate recipe. • Cannot interact with anything when travelling to the swamp at the start of the run, or if for any reason you respawn outside of the swamp. I have updated the descriptions in each episode to include the rules and I'll make sure to reference them more often in future episodes. Also thank you everyone for your kind words and feedback!

Thank you for the awesome series. you could also try to dodge a few stinger attacks by jumping to the side when they charge or continue to entertain us with that death counter, I'll enjoy the next video anyway. I'm gonna try that challenge too next time, thanks again.

This is crazy. Like the fact you’re still gonna have to deforest everything, do trees respawn? You’ll run out of that fuel eventually, or are you hoping to get to nuclear power to be sustainable for power before that happens? Also that team rocket thing had me dyinggggg. He actually doesn't need need to do mass deforestation at this point, now that he has biocoal. Only mass -murder- sustainable harvesting of the wildelife.

You know, creature spawning is blocked by factory building nearby. If you want to prevent that huge poison spitter from returning, just add a bunch of foundations in the area. Considering this very difficult and low-resource playthrough, that seems fair to me. It's not as if foundations are free.

That does not seem to apply anymore since Update 8.

@@Wasur1959 According to Coffee Stain developer videos, they changed the spawning mechanics so the higher tier enemies need more "factory value" (basically more items, and more higher tier machines) nearby to block their spawns. But it is still a game mechanic in Update 8.

I kept getting killed by a bunch of big spiders around a uranium node. I snuck up, placed a foundation and made a cage i could stand in but they couldn't fit. Kind of a cheese move but it worked.

love the challenge! For a tip, save the game before researching a hard drive, and reload if you dont get bio coal, the silica circuit boards and oscillator computers! there are only 5 drop pods here (?) Keep the sanity.

Good challenge i like it! if you didn't know when the hard drive scan was complete and you don't care about any of the three options, you can press esc and return the hard drive to your inventory and start the scan again

It's likely he knows it; but one of the challenge conditions (announced in the first video) is not to reroll recipes one way or another. Only random.

You're not ready for that area. You need to have better equipment unlocked like blade runners and explosives.
