Works great! kzbin.infoUgkxprGGPRQoChQaA8u58dt7miEpxQBKiWeJ More difficult with longer grass, though, but I was expecting that. I have a small back yard, it seemed like overkill to buy a lawnmower with an engine. This is easy to carry in and out of the basement through the bulkhead. Very sharp (be careful). At the back of the mower are little wheels, which I use when pulling the mower backwards, so it's easy to readjust direction. I'm including a photo which shows the before and after for my lawn when it was at its longest. For long grass like that you really have to put some muscle into it, and I needed to go into a new section of grass with some momentum, but when the grass is only an inch or two higher than regular cut height it's quite easy. The lawn is still patchy and full of weeds, but at least it's a good height! A step in the right direction.

I have a hayter rotary mower with rear roller and it stripes the lawn fantastically Yes it won’t cut as short as a cylinder but for the average garden it looks superb

We were given a Toro Pro 560 and oddly, the next day they took it back and said they did not want us to use it.. I can only guess why but I think they don't want Autistic people reviewing their gear is the feeling I got... not sure. We are getting sent a Weibang hopefully which is similar and probably does just as good a job.

Excellent video, I'm Subscribed. Great idea to practice running the mower without the blades spinning to get the feel of turning and operating the clutch before adding the nerve racking blades, then run at a high height for some blade spinning practice. Also any input on grooved rollers vs smooth?
@lawnporn Жыл бұрын
The grooved definitely feels better in use (by a smidge) but it’s great for low cuts as it allows some of the grass to stand up more for the cut that follows the front roller.

What are your thoughts on the bushranger cylinders? They start at about $1,500. This is vid awesome. So much knowledge in this vid for people starting out and those of us looking to step up our game. Great job mate.
@lawnporn3 жыл бұрын
I still have a Bushranger 500CM and that is lent to my mates with a buffalo lawn. If you are looking around, The Allett is good and so is the MowMaster for a bit more money. The Bushy has a light plastic roller which isn't great but for the couch it seems ok. the cables get awfully sticky which is a know weakness.

Did you consider the Allett mower that is powered by the ego batteries. I am wanting to go over to the Ego system and it looks really good and so interested in why you didnt stick with the electric when moving to a cylinder mower?
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
At the time of making this video, the Allett Stirling wasn’t available. I went the petrol Kensington over the Liberty (Greenworks battery) basically because of the little bit of extra weight the petrol system has. I have tried the Allett Stirling 51 and I’m getting one in the next shipment. I did a vid in the prototype. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGqZhImcnpaHarM

Quick question, how are you supposed to move a cylinder mower around? Like from garage to backyard etc? Do you just push it along manually? Ours doesn’t move forward very well when it’s not running

I move mine around by starting it up and using the drive.

Great video! What are your thoughts on ozito battery cylinder mowers? I bought one (my first cylinder mower), and the cut is definitely much better than the rotary mower. I know they're not as good as the bigger $2000 cylinders, but how much difference would I see in my lawn if I upgraded to something as flash as your Allett?
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out this vid. I have not used the Ozito so it’s a bit hard to comment. You’ll get the benefits of the scissor cut with the Ozito, which is the cut quality you are noticing from the rotary. The Allett will benefit from the lines produced by the roller, the weight of the roller and also you get the versatility of changing cartridges for different cultivations. The cut is lovely. Obviously a camera shot of the cut doesn’t probably pick up the difference in the cut quality in video screen, and I’ve seen plenty of pics of ‘this was cut with the Ozito’ etc - and the cut looks great, but I’d imagine in person the cut of the cylinder mower is better in person. Would it be that much of a difference that you would care? That’s an incredibly personal question only answered by you. Typically the curiosity of getting a ‘proper’ cylinder mower hooks people in and they don’t look back. If budget allows, get a cylinder mower like an Allett, MowMaster and there are some relatively decent (I’d imagine) cheaper reel mowers that get you into the club nicely (Masport, Cox, SupaSwift, Bushranger) and others. Remember, the cut really depends on the surface, lawn condition and type etc. Maybe look at this vid. The Allett and MowMaster cutting nicely, mowing starts at 5:54 if you want to jump ahead. Lines baby, lines!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHK7e2p_bbx2eMU

Great video there mate. Just wanted your advice on rotary mowers 2 blade vs 4 blades. Do 4 blades necessary mean better cut? I have got tiftuf lawn. Cheers.
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
the 4 blade with a powerful motor and sharp blades will give you a lovely cut, so will a 2 blade.. I have a couple of twin blades being the ego and one of my Hondas. I probably prefer them..
