Thanks man. I’ve got a chainsaw with the easy start feature. Used to struggle to get it started cold. Great chainsaw but a pain to cold start. After checking your video, thought I’ll give it a try. Worked a charm this morning in the freezing cold. Thanks heaps. Greetings from Western Australia. 😀

Thank you. I still can't understand how I let myself walk out of the dealer with something called an Easy Start on this little chainsaw. I just have it for occasional domestic yard work and use it just infrequently enough to have to resort to the University of KZbin every time to get it started. Owner's manual is useless at a whole other level. Anyways, this is best and clearest explanation i've found and I've now bulleted out your sequence here on a card, laminated it, punched a hole in it and tied it to the handle!

How many times do you pump the priming bulb? I tried 3 like my lawnmower and that was t enough after running it dry. 7 pumos after running it dry worked prettty well.

How do I know if my MS 170 is soft start or compression release? Not mentioned in the paperwork or manuals though my dealer said it was when I specifically asked for a soft start at the time of sale?

I feel quite safe drop starting my ms290 but I'll see if I can hold it like that with all the extra weight. With a 20 inch bar, chainsaw running max rpm it doesn't sound safe holding it in my knees. The only way it stops is by hitting the throttle so if you drop it bye bye feet or leg

So, the actual engine turn-over is right at the end of your easy pull? Some guys are saying on KZbin that you pull the rope out all the way and let it slam back by itself, which seems crazy to me, and I've been sawing since 1968, I've been having some problems restarting my new 500i after letting the hot saw sit for a few minutes.

guess my does not have these easy pull. Not sure why they would not have that on all of them. Mine is new and it's everything I have to just pull the cord that at best might come out half way but usually not that for. So hard I really just don't use it has much has needed. Tales 4 or 5 tries to just get the cord coming out but by that time the gas is messed up. Should of went electric.
