See the Gettysburg battle from a very personal perspective-through the stories and portraits of soldiers and civilians. Join Ron Coddington, Editor and Publisher of Military Images magazine for this in-depth examination of the battle participants. Using portrait photographs, many of them from private collections, Coddington has researched the stories behind the photographs. A collector himself, the author shares the history of Civil War photography and illustrates the techniques used to enhance the images.
Coddington has a background in journalism, writing for USA Today, Civil War News, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the San Jose Mercury News, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. His previous books combining personal stories with military photographs are Faces of the Civil War, Faces of the Confederacy, African American Faces of the Civil War, Faces of the Civil War Navies, and Faces of Civil War Nurses. His most recent book, Faces of Gettysburg, was published in August 2022.

I will have to stop by the new building and see what might be there on my great, great, grandfather, if anything. He was a member of the 87th Pennsylvania volunteers.

Thanks for a great program. I was most interested in the part about Issac Mell 149th Pa. Co. C. as 2nd Lt. Batdorff of that Co. was my Great Great Grandfathers brother in law and two cousins, Fredrick Matthews and John Matthews Noll, both were wounded at Gettysburg in the same Co. Thanks for your great presentations.

Outstanding presentation! Thank you Mr.Coddington and ACHSG! It would be interesting to see the red hospital flags displayed throughout town during anniversary and remembrance day. It would help to see the gravity of the casualties and generate revenue with tours.

We are distant cousins going way back on the family tree to the Coddingtons who arrived in the colonies in the 17th century.
