Yeeeahhh...! Go Michael Mikkelsen. Great to see legendary George Farmer here in DK. I'm a great fan, living in Copenhagen. George: stop by my house next time you fly in. We have two aquascapes - high energy maintained by my 11-year old daughter and a low energy blackwater maintained by low-energy me. Loved to see those beautiful tropica paintings - haven't heard of them but must get them now. Michael: fantastisk hus du har, tak fordi du deler med os andre!!!

I know that first tank traces its roots back to Ikebana. I'm not as enamored of it as most people. The thin wood going in all directions but backwards is nice,But I like a thicker twisty something or even just a moss and epiphyte plants log.But that's just a minor point..Michael has a great top of the line set up,no expenses spared and it IS interesting to see what that gets you. For him,perfection. Not a leaf with algae. One last..is he using Ozone? Is that making a comeback because it was THE hot thing to have in the 70's..Aquarium magazines were full of advertisements for the machines.

In my experience with UG, I had zero success with tissue culture. Always died when submersed , even with high light, soft water and co2. It just could never transition properly. But when I got some submersed plants from a fellow hobbyists it grew perfect and like a weed. Get some pre-grown submersed and it will grow great. I’ve also heard that dry starting may be successful as well but I’ve never tried it. Cheers!

Systems like Twinstar performs electrolysis which does split H2O into O2 and several other derivatives, it will also produce a number of other compounds in the water column. The "sterilization" comes from the production of hydrogen peroxide. If you have high chloride you can create small amount of chlorine in the form of hydrochlorus acid. The controller box is what ensures you don't create high levels of any given compound. I've done a bit of research on this process, but the amount of information available on this product is very bare. I would love to see additional information, best practice and long-term examples on Sterilizers like twinstar
@GeorgeFarmerStudios5 жыл бұрын
That’s the best post on the Twinstar steriliser I’ve read so far. Thanks
@deepriver865 жыл бұрын
what i questioned myself about this electrolytic sterilization process is whether the effect would ultimately be the same if simple h202 was injected instead given that this isreally cheap and available to fight algae etc. anyway. the chemical process seems to be the same, right?
@dusk19475 жыл бұрын
@@deepriver86 from what I understand about the process yes. But it's the frequent low dosage that is regulated with a controller. You would have to manually doze a few PPM of both hydrogen peroxide, and a smaller portion of chlorine every hour to recreate this effect. "Its the dose that makes a poison", low frequency doses that quickly off-gass or react is what (I think) forms the basis of this product. That is precisely where I would love to see more data. But yes, you could essentially drop a very small does every hour in front of an impeller or power head. You just wouldn't get the extra O2. *edit: you arn't buying the chemical reaction, you are buying a precisely controlled dosage. Just like throwing a bubble counter and solenoid on a CO2 regulator, instead of just dumping a ton of CO2 into the tank. If done wrong, these two technologies are equaly deadly to your tank
@timmmyt1015 жыл бұрын
Biggest thing for Utricularia Graminafolia is to use either very very old cycled substrate OR use inert substrate. It is highly sensitive to the high nutrient levels in new aquasoil. It also can TOLERATE fertilization regimes but they absolutely can hurt it. I find it's easiest to grown in a UG only iwagumi.

enjoyed this video.. It was interesting to see the methods he used with the fertilisers and i enjoy knowing what equipment people are using to create these stunning aquas capes.

Hi George, some beautiful scapes there! So, regarding the Micranthemum Monte Carlo in that beautiful tank... It looks amazing. @trevorwilson11705 жыл бұрын
it depends
@strider51195 жыл бұрын
While there are no fish in it, maybe. Just to get rid of any dust etc from the substrate. After the tank is established and has fish, the less you touch it the better, cause sudden changes shock fish.
@fakecabal5 жыл бұрын
My tank is 2 weeks old. First week did not change water and the plants started to melt. Bought tropica plants. Now started to have algae. Will do daily water changes and removed rotting plants.
@trevorwilson11705 жыл бұрын
@@fakecabal sounds like a good choice, I would recommend using a low dosage of carbon fertilizer just to be aggressive against the algae. Then just stop dosing it when your tank is algae free.
