Can I use plumbers putty instead of the flange gasket

Hi, so if you are talking about the gasket that goes up underneath the sink, you should be using that and not plumbers putty. We follow the manufacturers instructions for installing these units which will give the best results and prevent issues down the road, such as leaks under your sink. This model came with all the parts needed for the installation, and other models may slightly vary. If you are installing a different model disposal than shown in this video, then it may be best to refer to your specific instruction manual to see what it recommends if it does not come with that part.

2 different models of disposals used cutting clips from the WRONG videos together Plus he did Not use the strain relief connector for the electrical wires where they go through the disposal unit. Do NOT hire this guy. This video needs to be taken down as it advises you incorrectly on multiple levels and stages. Need to redo and create two correct videos . One is a GE brand disposal and the other is an Insinkerator brand disposal . They are totally different and used totally different mounting brackets.
